Monitor not waking from sleep in Windows Vista

I have been working on Windows Vista SP2 and found that once put to sleep my computer wakes up on a tap on the key board or the click of a mouse but not my monitor. I have tried changing settings related to sleep but this does not work. What should be done?

You could first try a system restore. This can be used for smaller issues and my not solve extensive ones. If this does not work then your problem might be more deep rooted. Here you could try a repair install since this would help you clean your registry. This is used depending on the condition of registry and age of the installation. This would lead to a complete clean install and would be the last resort. If you have valuable files or programs stored in, you could go for an inplace installwhich would preserve all folders and files or programs that you have on your system.

Re: Monitor not waking from sleep in Windows Vista

The problem that you are currently encountering is possibly not due to any monitor related problem,
rather the problem is in your Windows Vista that you have as your operating system.

You can try to solve the issue by using the option System Restore, available under,
start--all programs--accessories--system tools--system restore, by selecting a restore point when there ws no issue with the system.

Alternatively, you can do a Repair System, by inserting the Windows Vista Installer CD into tge optical drive and boot from it. Next select Install Now, then Repair Install, and follow the guidence of the installer in order
to repair any corruption that may have occured in the windows, remove the disk once the task is finished , boot normally,

    Things should be normal .
