Network Connection icon missing from system tray in Windows Vista

Whenever I start up my PC running on Windows Vista, I can view an icon on notification area which indicates the signal strength. If I click on that icon, the ‘Connect To’ window will pop up on the screen for connecting with the network. It is not possible to view that icon for the past few weeks. How can I restore that icon?

Uninstall the network device driver from your system first and install it again. Open the ‘Start’ menu for that by clicking the ‘Start’ button and enter Device Manager into the Start search box. Press the ‘Enter’ key after that and click the ‘Continue’ button available in UAC prompt. Click the plus sign next to Network Adapters to expand it. When you find the device driver, right click on it. Then, click the ‘Uninstall’ option from the pop-up menu. If you need to delete the device driver package from driver store, then click ‘Delete the driver software for this device’ option available in ‘Confirm Device Removal’ page. Press the ‘OK’ button afterwards and repeat the earlier steps to uninstall sound device. Quit the Device Manager and restart the PC. This will re-install the uninstalled items and restore the network connection icon on system tray.
