    Dear guest,

The perfect way of formatting your flash disk is this...

Imagine your flash disk is k drive. Then the next step is, click on start>>run
    1. Type cmd.
    2. Command prompt will open.
    3. Type "Format K: /FS:FAT32 /Q". And hit enter.
    4. Your disk will be formatted.

    Thank you...

Re: Unable to format my USB flash drive in windows vista

    Hello Dear Friend ...

    Follow the below process

    Open the START menu

Then type "" cmd "" in the Search box

    Right click on the cmd.exe

Then you need to Select " Run as Administrator "

You need to Run this command now ..

    format H: FS/:FAT32 /x

Replace H with ....... with your Own USB flash Drive letter like ( E; F; G; ..etc.,)

You can also Replace FAT32 with another file system such as NTFS ,, FAT ..e.tc.,

    That is it

    VERY GOOD LUCK

Re: Unable to format my USB flash drive in windows vista

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say...........

1.Firstly check that you have connected your USB drive correctly or not.

2.Then you check this may be the problem of the virus.

3.So you try to install the best antivirus software and then scan your system.

4.If that is not your problem then your problem is with the USB slot or with the drivers.

5.So you check the power connection of your USB slot.

6.If you have no problem then the problem is with the drivers.

7.So you try to update the USB drivers so you may fix your problem.

    Have a nice day............

Re: Unable to format my USB flash drive in windows vista

    Hello,

Using command prompt you can format your USB frive. You need to open
    command prompt then type,

    "Format F: /FS:FAT32 /Q".

If you are unable to format your usb drive then thre must be some issue regsrding
your usb drive. Alternatively you can use other OS like Windows 7 to see whether
you are having the problem or not.

    Bye,

Re: Unable to format my USB flash drive in windows vista

    Method 1
Try to use Disk Management console (check here). Check how many partitions do you have on the USB pendrive (there should be only one, if not remove all the partitions and create a single one) and try to format it from the Disk Management console.

    Method 2
It is also possible that a system reboot would help. After the reboot do not start any programs just proceed to format the pendrive.

    Method 3
the error may point to faulty hardware. Try the USB drive in a different USB port in your computer, try the USB drive in a different computer and if the problem persists contact HP

Re: Unable to format my USB flash drive in windows vista

If you can access the files, you may be facing a lack of permission to do more than that. You can check the permission level and change it to see if that give you full access to the drive.
    • Go to Computer
    • Right click your thumb drive
    • Click on Properties
    • Click the Security tab
    • Select Everyone and click the Edit button in the dialoge box
    • In the Allow column, check the Full Control box
    • Click Apply and OK
This should ensure that Access Control is ruled out as the souce of the Write Protected situation.
    OR -
Use DiskPart Open a command prompt window for the windows version you are using
    • In the command prompt type diskpart
    • Type list volume to identify the thumb drives volume #.
    • Type select volume # where # is your thumb drives # and press enter.
    • Type attributes disk clear readonly press enter. You should get text back saying Disk attributes cleared successfully

Re: Unable to format my USB flash drive in windows vista

    Dear Friend,

Try to format your usb drive through command Prompt.
For the same open command prompt and type "format F: /FS:FAT32 /Q".
Please note that, here "F" is the drive letter assigned to USB drive.
If it fails then open disk management and try to format the same through there.
If it fails again then it means that there is some issue with your USB driver.
In this case contact the manufacturer of your USB drive.

    THANK YOU!!!!

You haven't provided the complete detail so it would be really difficult to provide an excellent answer but still you can follow some methods to fix your issue.
