    hi,

This may occur because of two things:

    1. hardware failure or

    2. CD/DVD failure.

you have to check both first, try to check your cable that is coonected with CD/ DVD drive .

    * or you should be sure that your CD is not corrupt .

    * if both are working fine then you have to " format you pc and reinstall windowsXP it will definatly solve your problem.

    all the best

If you have changed the DVD/CD drive but the problem persists,

The problem must be in the Device Driver file of the DVD/CD drive installed in WIndows XP.

Goto Control Panel--Device--DVD/CD Controller--uninstall to remove previous installation which is non functional.
follow the same route to select "Update Driver" , which will update the device driver for optical drive and solve your problem.

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say..............

1.Firstly check that your DVD drive is working finely or not.

2.You also check the power connection of your DVD cable.

3.If there is no problem in the hardware then the problem is with your hardware.

4.So you try to repair your DVD drivers or update your DVD drivers.

    To Update DVD drivers.

1.Firstly make a right click on the 'My Computer'.

    2.Then you click on 'Manage'.

3.There you click on the 'DVD/CD-ROM drives'.

4.Then you open your DVD driver properties.

5.Then you go to the 'driver' tab and click on 'Update driver'.

That's it by doing as i said you can solve your problem.

    Have a nice day...............
