    Hi,

The problem you are encountering may have come either from a damaged/corrupt/deleted Device Driver file for Audio or somehow MUTE button was pressed and stopping media player to play sound.

You need to install another copy of the file to remove the first issue.

START > CONTROL PANEL > HARDWARE AND SOUND > DEVICE DRIVER > click on the audio controller to availa menu from which click DRIVER > UPDATE DRIVER > OK.

This will update system with a fresh driver from Microsoft, also you can update driver from the Manufacturers site if you are using a third party driver for the computer.

About the Mute condition, click the volume control icon at the right hand corner of the taskbar and set the mute button cancelled. Exit.

    Thanks.

    Hi.
    Try these steps:
    Step 1: Check hardware
    1. Check your sound cardCheck to make sure your computer has a sound card, or sound processor, and it's working properly.
    >>Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager.* If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    >>Double-click Sound, video and game controllers to expand that category. If a sound card is listed, you have one installed. If no sound card is listed, check the information that came with your computer to see if there's supposed to be a sound card installed. If there should be a sound card installed, you'll need to install one according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    2. Check if the cables are connected properly

    3. Check power and volume

If you have speakers, make sure they're plugged into a working power source and turned on.
Make sure that your speaker volume or headphone volume isn't muted or turned down too low. This is particularly important for laptops, which often have small speakers that can be hard to hear.
    >>Open Volume Mixer by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then, under Sound, clicking Adjust system volume.
    >>Move the slider up to increase the volume.

    Step 2: Update drivers

You can update using Windows Update or Install software from the device manufacturer or Download and install the driver yourself.

    Thank you.

    Dear Friend!!
If this problem is on;y with your windows media player, you need to check the sound drivers and update them or re-install them or you can install realtek high definition audio drivers from third party.
if no sound is coming from any of the program, then check the speakers and port connection.
one more thing that you need to check whether your sound ports are working or not...For this, go to device manager in control panel, and check and diagnose the problem by clicking "troubleshoot" and try to reconnect the speakers.
    This might solve the problem.

    Dear friend...

here you can find your solution...

    Codec issue

If only some of the movies you're playing do not get sound it's likely you have a codec issue. A movie may be created to utilize a certain codec to allow the file to be smaller and more portable. However, in order for the movie file to be played in the media player it must also have the codec installed.

If the location of where you downloaded the file does not contain a link to the download for the codec we suggest you view our codec dictionary definition for additional information and links to codec downloads.

    Check volume settings

Often no sound in the Microsoft Windows Media Player is corrected by adjusting the volume controls at the bottom of the window. Moving the slider from the left to the right will turn up the volume, if all the way to the left the volume is turned all the way down.

    Make sure not muted

In addition to the volume slider, make sure the sound icon is not pressed in. This button is the mute button and will mute the sound.

Make sure the Equalizer is balanced

If the equalizer is all turned down you may experience sound related issues. To check this setting, click View, Enhancements, Graphic Equalizer. Once the Graphic Equalizer is displayed, make sure all settings are at least mid way.

    Sound settings

Verify your sound settings are correct. When other software programs are installed it's possible for the programs to incorrectly adjust your sound settings causing issues with your sound.

Missing or lost sound in Windows.
Update or Reinstall the Windows Media Player

If you continue to experience issues, you may want to consider reinstalling or updating the Windows Media player on your computer.

    hope this will help you
    thank you
