Not able to change parental control settings on Windows 7

Even after login to my PC running on Windows 7, I am not able to change the parental control settings in it. Is there any way available to change the settings?

Re: Not able to change parental control settings on Windows 7

First of all, you should check whether you can start the Parental Control Service. For that, you should click on start button and type services.msc on the search box. Then, you should click on the ‘Service Panel’ option and find out the Parental Control service. You should then right click on the service selected and click on the ‘Start’ option. If the parental control service works properly, then the problem is with your Administrator account. You should create a new account and try to change the parental control settings through it. You should perform the following steps to create a new account.
    • Click on ‘Start’ button
    • From there go to the ‘Control Panel’
    • Click on ‘User Accounts and Family Safety’
    • Then click on ‘User Accounts’
    • Choose now the option ‘Manage another account’ and click it
    • You have to click the option for creating a new account
    • Give a desired username and password when prompted
    • Give the account type
    • Finally confirm
Finally, you should login into windows with your new account and see whether you can change the settings.

Administrator account can change anything on your computer like change password and parental controls.
So you create a new account in your PC as explained above.
Then you need to apply the parental controls to that new created user.
Provide the newly created user and password to ur child.
In order to activate parental control do the following
type Parental control in the search box
    and select it.
Now select the newly created account to enable parental control.
Now turn on the parental control and and set the parameters like time and other things.

Lets try the following. Even though your account is a administrator, lets enable to Built in Administrator account and see if we get the error that you mentioned before.

enable the Real Built-in Administrator account, then login to that account and see if you can set up the parental controls.

1.) open Start menu, type cmd in the search box

2.) look up to the top of the left panel, you'll see cmd.exe , Right click on it

3.) click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR , click Continue if a prompt appears

4.) a black & white screen will appear, type in the following :

    net user administrator /active:yes

5.) press ENTER key from your keyboard. The b/w screen will indicate if the command is successful or not. If yes, close the b/w command prompt. If not try again and careful with typo/spacing.

6.) Log-off. Your screen will show 3 accounts. The "real administrator" acct, yours, and your 2nd account you setup for friends/family

7.) login to the "Administrator" account. The system will start setting up the desktop for the account. After that , try do what you wanted to do with the 2nd account (parental control setup).

Caution : a) should you decide to keep that account (the Administrator account), make sure to create a password for it.
    b) should you decide to get rid of it, repeat the procedures EXCEPT in step 4.) type net user administrator /active:no

    All the best!!
