Hello sir. I have a dual boot system with windows 7 as the primary OS and PCLinux as the secondary OS. I want to remove PCLinux and install Ubuntu without removing windows 7. How should i do?Please provide a solution.

Thanks for posting your query in this forum. You can start the installation of Ubuntu and removal of PCLinux partitions through Ubuntu Partition manager. Also create a new partition of Ubuntu. Then proceed with the installation and let it copy all the files in place. Make sure that the bootloader is installed correctly. Ubuntu should install in bootloader, giving you access to both windows and ubuntu. In case that doesn't happen, you can still use the windows or Linux installation disk to fix the bootloader. If you want to try and use ubuntu along with PCLinux OS,you can try using Wubi to install Ubuntu without having to partition the drive.

You Can Install Ubuntu with Wubi from Ubuntu CD. The Steps are as follows :-
1. downloaded the Ubuntu Live ISO and burned it to CD. When you again put CD containing UBUNTU it will pop-up
2. From Popup Menu select run wubi.exe

3. In next Step click the Install inside Windows button.

4. In Next Step choose the language, install drive, installation size, username and password then click Install.

5. Wait Few Minutes while ubuntu is installing
6. After it completes Restart PC
Installing Ubuntu from Wubi.exe --IF NOT HAVING UBUNTU CD
1. download the Wubi Installer
2. In Next Step choose the language, install drive, installation size, username and password then click Install.
3. Now installation takes place, it will download the appropriate ISO

4. No matter which route you take to install Ubuntu with Wubi, everything is installed to C:\Ubuntu directory
5. After the first reboot, you can choose between Windows 7 or Ubuntu at the Windows Boot

6. boot into Ubuntu, wait a few minutes while the installation finishes up
7. You’ll see a series of screens and then the main install screen is displayed showing progress and screens showing features offered in Ubuntu 9.10.
