Not able to scan properly with Windows 7 using HP Laserjet 2840

I have recently bought HP Laserjet 2840 scanner for my PC running on Windows 7. There was no noticeable issue in scanning paper documents through it. But it says ‘not on list’ whenever I try to scan in paper size 8.5 X 14 which is legal. What should I do to resolve this issue?

You should update the graphic drivers on your PC after logging into windows as administrator. For that, you should first open the ‘Device Manager’ by performing the following steps in a consecutive manner.
    • Go to ‘Start’ button
    • Choose the ‘Control Panel’ icon and click on it
    • Click on ‘System and Maintenance’
    • Select the ‘Device Manager’ option
After that, you should type the password or provide the confirmation if prompted. Then, you should locate the scanner from the list given on Device Manager. You should then double click on the name of the device to view a dialog box. You have to click on ‘Driver’ tab from the tabs available on the dialog box. You should click on ‘Update Driver’ option afterwards and follow the instructions specified by the ‘Update’ wizard. After updating the drivers, you should try to scan in paper 8.5 X 14.

      • 1.Press the scanner-release button for opening the scanning assembly of the HP Laser Jet 2840.
      • 2.Open the top cover to expose the cartridge slot.

      • 3.Check if the correct cartridge slot is accessible. If you cannot access it properly, close the top lid and the scanner assembly and hold down the rotate carousel button until the correct cartridge slot is in the right position.

      • 4.Squeeze together the two blue tabs on the cartridge and lift it straight up. This will remove the cartridge from the carousel.

      • 5.Take out the new cartridge from the packaging and remove its orange cover. Pull the orange tab on the new cartridge to remove its sealing tape.

      • 6.Squeeze together the blue tabs on the new cartridge. Lower it into the carousel until you hear it click firmly in place.

      • 7.Close the top lid and the scanner assembly.

    All The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
