    Dear friend,

    Yes,
it is possible to have a multiple boot system with Windows XP on your laptop. This depends upon the operating systems which you want to install in your laptop.

If you want to have a multiple boot system of Windows XP and Windows 7, then follow these steps:

    1. First make sure that your Sony laptop have minimum hardware requirements that are necessary to install Windows 7.

    2. Make a clean fresh install of Windows XP on your laptop or keep your existing Windows XP intact.

    3. Put your Windows 7 DVD into the DVD-ROM drive of your laptop and reboot the PC. When you are asked
"boot from CD or DVD Drive" press Enter to accept that.

    4. Install the Windows 7 normally as like you are installing this window on a new laptop.

    5. After completion of Windows 7 installation, reboot your PC.

    6. After rebooting, you are asked "Which operating system do you want to continue with" with options-
    Windows 7
    Earlier version of window
If you want to boot from your old Windows XP then select
    Earlier version of window,
or you can select Windows 7 to boot with Windows 7.

    Tip:
You can install another combination such as Windows XP with Window 8 or Windows 7 with Windows 8.
    but keep in mind that:
You have to install Windows XP before Windows 7, and Windows 7 before Windows 8.

    Thanks!
