Yes it is to do dual boot using windows 8 and linus OS.but you won't be able to access your data on other OS while using different OS because they both uses different filesystem.BUt remember while installing linux os don't format the whole drive because it can result in the loss of data.just create a partition and install it there. It won't cause any problem as long you play with the system carefully.

Actually You can have multiple OS in your laptop or desktop.
It will be great if you have two disc partitions.
If you dont have two partitions then try to partition it.
or just install in the same drive.
During the start up you need to select any one of the OS or Bootloader from the options
    Windows
    Linux
The first one will get started in 10 seconds.

    Hello,

Yes , it is possible to dual boot your computer with both Linux and windows OS.
But you have to make sure that they are not installed on the same drive.
And the installation of the OS is done in the normal way.
You only have to make sure that the drives are different.

    dear friend,

of course you can install Windows 8 & Linux together in your computer.

but it'll be better if you make two different partition for these two ways.

because these two OS are completely different in nature.

at the time of start up,these two will appear.

you have to choose in which OS you want to work.

remember that you must not format any drive-it may cause data loss of your system.

STEPS FOR DUAL BOOT WITH WINDOWS8 AND UBUNTU

STEP 1 :- Download Ubuntu: Installation images of Ubuntu 12.10 are available from here. A 32- or 64-bit image worked, so download what you like or what will work on your computer.

STEP 1 :- Install Windows 8: This assumes that you have an installation DVD of Windows 8. When creating the partitions for Windows 8, set aside some free space for Ubuntu.

STEP 1 :- Install Ubuntu: Ubuntu was installed in the free space created when Windows 8 was being installed. Like the Windows 8 installation, this requires manual disk partitioning, so if you are not familiar with disk partitioning in Linux, be sure to read guide to disks and disk partitions in Linux before starting. Also, read Ubuntu 12.10 installation and disk partitioning guide.

STEP 1 :- Add Entry for Ubuntu in Windows 8: If you boot into Windows 8 after installing Ubuntu, you will have to add an entry for Ubuntu in Windows 8′s boot menu.

    Hello

Yes you can put Both Windows 8 and Linux OS in separate drive such as Windows 8 in C drive and Linux in D drive. To do this you want to install both OS separably. When you put the OS DVD in your system Disk Driver and runs that the OS Set up asks the path address where you want to install that, mention the path address during the installation. When the Both OS install successfully restart your computer boot menu will ask you the OS in which you want to login , Choose that and press Enter and enjoy the power of both OS one at a time

    Tank you

    Hello dear friend

yes it is possible to do dual boot with windows 8 and Linux OS.. how to dual-boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10; dual-booting Windows 8 and Ubuntu on a single hard drive (HDD).. Armed with it, and an installation image of Ubuntu 12.10 Desktop, I set out to see if dual-booting the latest offerings from Microsoft and Mark Shuttleworth’s outfit will pose any major obstacles on a motherboard with UEFI firmware.
The computer I used is one I assembled using an ASRock motherboard

Hope the information will help you..

    Thank you..!!!
