Is it possible to store the Windows login password in a USB drive or floppy drive encrypted to use it whenever I forget it?

I really have a very bad memory and always use to forget my Windows login password and end up in formatting my whole system, Is there any other way where we can store the Windows login password encrypted either in USB or floppy drive so that it can be used when we forget?

Yes, its possible to do in Windows PC because this is one of the biggest problem for many users, just follow the below steps which is in Windows 7 and the steps are more or less the same for previous version too.

STEP 1: Open Control panel from start and select user account.
STEP 2: Now insert the floppy drive or USB drive where you want to save the encrypted password when need to recover.
STEP 3: From the left tab select the Create a password reset disk and continue with the steps given.

Its done! now you can use the USB or floppy drive to recover the password again when you forget it next time. The recover option will be shown when you provide the wrong answer.

What you are talking about is actually called "Password Reset Disk".

It is used to reset the password , in case you have forgotten your previous one.

Follow the steps to make password reset disk :

-> Start -> Control Panel -> User Account & Family Safety -> User Account

-> Now on the left side, you will "create password reset disk".

    Capture.jpg

-> Now insert a USB in your PC & click on the above link & follow the wizard . In the end you will have "userkey.psw" file in your USB.

How to use "Password Reset Disk" ??
-> When you enter the wrong password while log on, Windows will display a message that the password is incorrect. Click “OK” to close the message box.

-> Now click “Reset Windows Password”, and then insert Windows password reset disk through USB having the above created file.

-> Next you will see “Password Reset Wizard” to create a new password.

-> Complete the wizard & Log on with the new password.

You can do it by password reset disc method.
Its like having a back up.
You can goto this wizard and take a backup of your passwords as mentioned above.
When you forget the password or wrongly entered then insert the USB drive and recover the password.

Re: Is it possible to store the Windows login password in a USB drive or floppy drive encrypted to use it whenever I forget it?

    Hello Friend,

There are so many ways to recover your forgotten Windows password without a password reset disk. You can download a well-known freeware like Ophcrack, or reset Windows password with the Command Prompt. However, they’re either complicated or time consuming.

A Windows password reset disk would come in handy if you forgot Windows 7 password to log onto your PC on Windows 7/XP/Vista, which allows to reset Windows password easily and all the data or files are preserved in your laptop securely.

Well, this article is devided into 3 parts to create a password reset disk among Windows 7/XP/Vista. Just follow the steps and then DIY a password reset disk.

Steps to Create a Windows 7 password Reset Disk

Step 1: Click on Start and then choose Control Panel in Windows 7.

Step 2: Click on the User Accounts and Family Safety.
Note: You will not see this link while you’re viewing the Control Panel under Large icons or Small icons mode. Then double-click on the User Accounts icon and proceed to Step 4.

Step 3: Click on the User Accounts.
Note: Make sure that there is a portable media being connected on the computer to create the password reset disk before you proceed. This means that you will need a flash drive or a floppy disk drive and a blank floppy disk. You cannot create a Windows 7 password reset disk with a CD/DVD or external hard drive.

Step 4: In the task pane on the left, click Create a password reset disk.
Note: If you get a No Drive warning message at this time, it shows that you have not got a floppy disk or USB flash drive connected onto your PC. You’ll need to do this before continuing.

Step 5: When the Forgotten Password Wizard appears, click Next.

Step 6: Choose the portable media drive to create a Windows 7 password reset disk . And then click Next to continue.

Step 7: With the disk or other media still in the drive, enter your current account password in the text box and click Next.

Step 8: Windows 7 now start to create the password reset disk. Click Next and then click Finish in the next window when the progress indicator shows 100% complete

Step 9: You can now remove the flash drive or floppy disk from your computer. Label the created Windows 7 Password Reset disk and store it in a safe place.
Furthermore, you can also create a Windows password reset disk with Windows password recovery software, like Windows Password Unlocker, if you have lost or forgotten your Windows password, which allows you to reset your forgotten Windows 7 password with the burned CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

    Thanks..................

Re: Is it possible to store the Windows login password in a USB drive or floppy drive encrypted to use it whenever I forget it?

    Dear friend,

Instead of formatting the whole system in case of forgetting the Windows login password, you should use --PC Login Now-- software. This is simple graphical user interface software.
Just download the software and extract the ISO file from the self-extracting archive. Use USB Boot Device software or similar to install the ISO on USB drive. Boot up with this drive on requirement.

This will clear up the Windows password and after logging in,and you can create a new password.
You can also try -- Kon Boot, Ophcrack, or other similar password resetting software.

    Thanks!
