Is it possible to use Windows 7 installer to perform an in-place upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 Pro?

Windows Vista is the present OS in my PC. I would like to upgrade it to Windows 7 Professional. Is it possible to do this with Windows 7 installer as Microsoft considers this a downgrade? When I used the installer, it asked me to perform a clean install instead of an upgrade. Can someone tell me if itís possible to force the installer to do an in-place upgrade?

    Dear friend.

You should be able to upgrade your system. Also the windows vista shall be always termed to be the upgrade to the windows 7.

If you are not able to upgrade your pc then clean install the windows 7.

    FOLLOW THESE STEPS.

    1. Backup all the important files on the c drive as it will be formatted.

    2. Now configure your bios to boot via the dvd.

    3. Insert your windows setup disc into the drive.

    4. Start the windows setup.

    5. During the setup select custom option.

    6. now select cleans install option.

7.windows shall be installed and then restore the backup.

    Hope these steps help you.

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say...........

1.You cannot upgrade from Windows Vista to the Windows 7.

2.If you want Windows 7 then you do as i say below.

3.Insert the Windows 7 Cd in your system and restart.

4.Then you press any key and it will take you to installation wizard.

5.There you make the clean install of Windows 7 by formatting previous OS.

That's it by doing as i said you can solve your problem.

    Have a nice day..........

    Hello there !!

yes dear it is possible to do this windows 7.
and who says this is downgrade to vista.
there is nothing like that dear.

there might be the upgrade option there while installing.
if there is only custom install then you have to look to the operating system
of windows 7 which you are using to install, as it does not happen.

so you can do one thing also if you are not getting the upgrade option.
clean all the file and install the fresh windows 7 only.

hope i am clear to you.
    thanks for posting in EALP.
