Procedures required for hiding an update on Windows XP

When I start up my PC running on Windows XP, the windows automatic update prompts me to install an update. I have already installed that update few months ago. I need to hide the update to avoid this prompt message. What are the steps for that?

Click the ‘Start’ button and highlight ‘All Programs’ from the start menu. Then, click on either Windows Update or Microsoft Update option. A window will pop up on the screen afterwards from which click the ‘Custom’ option. Locate the update you want to hide from the available options. Clear off the checkbox located near the update. Then, expand the update by clicking on the plus sign. Click on the checkbox next to ‘Don’t show this update again’ label. Finally, press the ‘Review and install updates’ button visible on the screen.

    Hi,

In order to disable Windows Update you need to do the following,

CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM AND SECURITY > WINDOWS UPDATE > TURN AUTOMATIC UPDATE ON/OFF and select according to your choice.

This way you can stop automatic updation and uninterested updates.

    Thanks.
