Procedures required for uninstalling magnifier from Windows Vista

Few days back, a magnifier got installed into my PC running on Windows Vista. I have no idea about its source. It is not possible to remove it from my system too. What is the actual procedure for uninstalling the magnifier?

Click the ‘Start’ button visible on the desktop and type ease into the start search box. Press the ‘Enter’ key afterwards so that you can find ‘Ease of Access Center’ option among the search results. The moment you find this option, make a single click on it. When the ‘Ease of Access Center’ window pop up on the screen, click on ‘Make the computer easier to see’ from the available options. Uncheck the checkbox reside next to ‘Turn on Magnifier’ option. After that, you need to press the ‘Save’ button available on the screen. Then, restart the PC and see whether the magnifier has disappeared or not.

Re: Procedures required for uninstalling magnifier from Windows Vista

Magnifier is a utility in Windows XP and Vista operating systems that enables people with poor vision to increase the size of a particular portion of the computer display. It enlarges the desired area in a separate window, which resembles an actual magnifying glass. However, the Magnifier can be annoying if you do not use it and you can disable it from launching at startup. There are a few different ways to do so, either by using the System Configuration utility, Windows Defender application or by going through the "Start" menu.

    Instructions

    • Using the "Start" Menu

      • 1Go to the "Start" menu and click on "All Programs."

      • 2Click on the "Accessories" folder and then on the "Ease of Access."

      • 3Click on the "Ease of Access Center" and then on the "Make Computer Easier to See" link.

      • 4Scroll down and uncheck the box next to "Turn on Magnifier," and then press on "Save."

      • 5Restart your computer.

      Using System Configuration Utility

      • 6Go to the "Start" menu and click on "Run."

      • 7Type "msconfig" and hit "Enter" to bring up the System Configuration utility.

      • 8Click on the "Start-up" tab and then uncheck the box next to Magnifier.

      • 9Click on "OK" and reboot your computer when prompted for the change to take effect right away.

      Using Windows Defender

      • 10Go to the "Start" menu and click on "All Programs."

      • 11Scroll down and click on "Windows Defender," which is an application manager and an antivirus software.

      • 12Click on the "Tools" menu and then on the "Software Explorer" link.

      • 13Select "Start-up Programs" from the "Category" drop-down menu and click on "Show for All Users" at the bottom of the window.

      • 14Scroll down, click on "Magnifier" and then on "Remove" to disable the utility at start-up.
