The source image to the user account must be deleted by any of the users
if it is in the shared Documents are pictures.
If you have the copy of the picture then copy and paste it in your user places where it is not shared.
then select the pictures for the user account desired.
You can goto control panel and click manage user accounts.
From the new window select change user picture
It will show a box to select the directory and image.
Click browse and navigate to the picture.
    Click save changes.

Click Start, Run and type %Windir%\INF
Locate the shl_img.inf file. The file may be shown as shl_img, if you have configured Windows Explorer to hide known file extensions. To see the file extensions for all file types, then try this:
On the Tools menu in My Computer, click Folder Options.
    Click the View tab.
Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
Right-click the shl_img.inf file, and then click Install
Windows will now attempt to restore the missing picture files, and may prompt you for the Windows installation source path. Point to %Windir%\i386 folder, or insert your Windows XP CD.

By mistake sometimes it happens that we delete the photos that come pre installed with the windows xp cd.
These pictures are windows account user pictures and wallpapers photos.
No need to worry about you can use the following method to restore your missing picture.

Method to restore the missing picture of user account:

1.Click on the start button followed by opening the run command.

2.In the run command window type %Windir%\INF and press enter.

3.Browse through the list of files that come up and locate the shl_img.inf file.If you enable hide extensions of known file then the file will look like this shl_img.

    4.Right-click the
shl_img.inf file, and then click Install.

5.Now it will restore all the pictures and wallpapers. If it asks you for the installation path point to

Check whether the source file is deleted or not by entering the file name in the search box and selecting files in the radiobutton. If you find the picture memorise the location of the picture by selecting the option show in folder. Then go to control panel-user accounts-the user account you need to change-then select change picture. Then select browse button and select the picture you want then press open and then click ok to change. Hope you do it.
