RAM upgrading in HP desktop powered by Windows

The processing speed of my HP desktop powered by Windows appears slow and I heard there are options to upgrade the RAM so as to improve the speed. How can I do that?

    Hello my dear friend
you have much liberty to upgrade your system in desktop rather than laptop. When you open your CPU cabin you will the mother board.
In mother board there are various slots If you have some empty slots left then you can insert the RAM here.
But remember all RAMs should have same class, like all should belong to DDR1 or DDR2 etc.
And also only upgrading the RAM will not improve the speed you should also check your processor.

    All the Best.

    hi there,

You can easily upgrade your system's RAM by purchasing a compatible RAM type (DDR1,DDR2 or DDR3 according to your system's configuration) and installing to one of the RAM SLOTS available in your desktop.
If you are not experienced, then contact an expert or even someone who has some knowledge about computer hardware will work as it's really easy to fit RAM into the slots.
If you have any free RAM slot, just fix it into it and you are done. Else, pull the smallest capacity RAM and fix the new ram in it's place.

I recommend purchasing at-least 2GB RAM stick while you may want 4GB one for even better performance.

Random access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage.
It serves as temporary storage and working space for the operating system and applications,Along with that it could also be used as Virtual memory.

The processing speed of the computer depends upon the processor as well as on the type and amount of ram on the computer.
Following types of ram are available in the market:
    • SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM)
    • DDR (Double Data Rate SDRAM)
    • Rambus DRAM (RDRAM)
    • DDR2 RAM
    • DDR RAM
    • DDR3 RAM
    • DDR5 RAM
    Among these rams
the DDR3 and DDR5 are the latest and considered as the best.

Talking about the size of ram for good performance.
    Generally a
2 gb DDR3 ram is capable of running application at good speeds for a 320 or 500 gb hard disks.
But if you are planning to upgrade then i will advise you to get a
4 gb ram installed on your computer.

As you have Desktop, you can easily upgrade your RAM.
If you are running Windows Xp, then you must have 1 GB RAM or above. Then only your computer will run smoothly.
You can upgrade yourself. Firstly check whether inserted in your CPU is SD or DDR, then purchase your RAM from your nearby Computer Shop.
However, if you don't know or can't understand what to do, then I will suggest you to take your CPU to nearby computer shop and upgrade RAM.

Its easy my friend. just open up your cpu cabin you can find two slots for RAM on the mother board in which one will be inserted with a ddr1,ddr2 or ddr3 ram... check out which type your system supports.. then get 2GB RAM from near store and insert it in the slot provided. Windows will automatically install the driver else use windows update option... you can boost up your system by using pendrive if you have vista or higher version of windows..................

    dear friend,

Of course you can upgrade your RAM in your HP desktop.

Its too much difficult to install another RAM in laptop-because it doesn't have any extra slot like desktop.

But since you are using desktop, you are free to install another RAM.

But before that check for your processor.

If you will connect excess no of RAM , processor performance may decrease.

Before installing the RAM make sure that the new RAM is of same type as the older one.

There are many types of available in the market-

    SDRAM , DDR , DDR2 RAM , DDR RAM , DDR3 RAM , DDR5 RAM.

    Hi Friend ,

To add more RAM to your computer . You need to check::

    > The maximum RAM your processor can support . For this

    - Press windows key + R
    - Now type dxdiag and press enter
    - It will show you system manufacturer and system model
    - Now go to http://www.crucial.com/ and give name and model of your computer
    - This site will show the RAM type and maximum size of RAM your processor will support

    > Buy RAM your processor will support

    > Now shut down your computer and remove power cable

    > Now insert the RAM chip into RAM slots .

    > If you are using multiple slots they should have same RAM type .

    Hi friend,
you can upgrade your ram by visiting an hardware technician
if you dont know RAM version or dont have any idea of RAM:
just take your cabin to hardware technician and ask him to upgrade
if you know your RAM version :
just check weather its DDR1/DDR2/DDR3 RAM and go to hardware shop and buy and place it by yourself
if you don't know to place ask him to place
don't take any risk it is delicate job to place a RAM

    REGARDS...................

    Hi,

Truly the addition of RAM the Random Access Memory can enhance the performance of the computer.

But RAM alone cant change the capacity or capability of the system. Alot of factors collectively enhance the capability of the system, such as the Processor, the Hard Disk, the Cache RAM , the Windows and number of installed programs , the cleanliness from virus, the fragmentation, no. of devices attached etc. determines the speed of the computer.

Anyway you can buy the RAM from a vendor which should be similar to the already installed RAMs and provided slots in the motherboard free, you can install that.

Remember to buy DDR, DDR2, DDR3,RDRAM whichever is in the system already buy that else there will be compatibility problem.

    Thanks.

    Dear friends.

First of all you have to decide How much ram you want to decide..

Next Check which Ram your old one..

Then now Fix the frequency of your old ram..

You have to choose same ram frequency..

With out matching frequency they won't work..

So select same frequency and same type..

    Now your Ram is upgraded..

Thank you and All the best..
