Screen turns to black after putting PC running on Windows XP into idle mode for more than 30 seconds

I bought a new laptop which runs on Windows 7. Even though the system works fine, it shows black screen while placing it idle for more than 30 seconds. What should I do to stop this?

It seems that you haven’t set up screen saver for your system. Right click the empty space available on the desktop and wait until a menu pop up on the screen. Navigate through that menu and click the ‘Personalize’ option available in it. Go to the bottom right part of the screen and hit the screen saver link. You can select the image for screensaver after clicking the drop down menu available under ‘Screen Saver’ label. It is also possible to set up the time limit for idle mode after which you can see the screensaver by clicking the arrow button in the field next to ‘Wait’ label. Click the ‘Apply’ button afterwards for saving the changes made.

    Hi,

Getting black screen or Blank screen soto say after a 30 seconds pause in activity is not an error.

You dont have screen saver st to your system to show something different rather than black screen.

You can set "idle" mode activity after a longer pause. That is you can set the timing after which Idle Mode can be activated by the system, then you will see the screen for a longer time.
Use the option CONTROL PANEL>HARDWARE AND SOUND>POWER OPTIONS>EDIT POWER OPTION and set idle, sleep etc. times there.

    Thanks.

    hello guest !!

first be cool.your laptop is safe and nothing wrong has happened to your laptop.
it is simple screen saver setting.which causes it to behave after 30 second.
so,if you dont want it to be than follow the steps given below :-

    1. right click on your >> Desktop.
    2. select>> personalise
    3. under it select >> screen saver
    4. now there will be option checked >> turn screen off after 30 second.
    5. what you do is that change 30 second to 2 hrs or 5 hrs as you like.
    6. now you wont be getting black screen after 30 second.
