Setting the drive on which TV programs can be recorded in windows media centre

I usually records programs in TV via windows media centre in my system. Is there any option to set the drive to which the programs need to be recorded? What is the procedure for doing it?

    Hello friends,

On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Recorder, and then click Recorder Storage.

Under Record on drive, click the - or + button to select the drive that you want to record to

The available disk space on the drive you select will appear below.

Recorder storage in Windows Media Center is divided four ways: available recording space, live TV pause buffer, recorded TV, and other content.

You can record TV shows and movies to multiple hard disk partitions on the same computer, or directly to an external drive.

If only one hard disk is available, the - and + buttons under Record on drive will be unavailable.

To set the maximum amount of disk space for TV storage:

On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Recorder, and then click Recorder Storage.

Under Maximum TV limit, click the - or + button to change the amount of disk space you want to allocate to recorded TV shows and movies.

The disk space range depends on the size of the hard disk or partition that you select under Record on drive.

    To set the recording quality:

On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Recorder, and then click Recorder Storage.

Under Recording quality, click the - or + button to change the default quality setting at which all future recordings will record.

The quality setting affects the total recording time available on the selected disk drive.

For example, if you select Best quality on a disk drive that has a maximum TV limit of 60 gigabytes (GB), you can record about 22 hours of TV, whereas,

Good quality allows you to record about 42 hours of TV.

    HOPE THIS HELPS U

Re: Setting the drive on which TV programs can be recorded in windows media centre

You can change various settings for recording TV shows in Media Center, such as the quality at which shows are recorded and the drive where they are stored.

    • Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Center.

    • On the Windows Media Center start screen, scroll to Tasks, click Settings, click TV, click Recorder, click Recorder Storage, and then do one of the following:

      • To set the drive that you want Media Center to record your TV shows to, under Record on drive, click the Plus* + or Minus* - button to select a drive. You can record TV shows to a hard drive on your computer, or directly to an external hard drive. If only one storage location is available, the Plus* + and Minus* - buttons will be unavailable.

      • To set the maximum amount of drive space for recorded TV, under Maximum TV limit, click the Plus* + or Minus* - button to change the amount. The available space range depends on the size of the hard drive that you select under Record on drive.

      • To set the recording quality at which all future recordings will record, under Recording quality, click the Plus* + or Minus* - button to choose a setting. The quality setting affects the total recording time available on the selected hard drive. For example, if you select Good quality, you'll be able to record a lot more TV programs than if you select Best quality.

Re: Setting the drive on which TV programs can be recorded in windows media centre

    Dear
I'm a recent convert from Sage TV. I'm still trying to work my way through the world of Windows Media Center / Media Browser. I have few questions on how WMC manages recorded TV. It would be great if one of the WMC experts take a few minutes and help me understand how WMC handles recorded TV.

    1. On SageTV, there is a way to mark a recording as "Watched". Is there a similar option with WMC? Does WMC even keep track of "Watched" shows? I ask this because I'm curious to know how WMC decides if it is OK to delete a recording to make room for newer recordings.

    2. Can I control the "Record new episodes only"/"Record new and repeat episodes" setting per TV-Series? Or is this setting applied to all recordings? I'd like to record only new episodes for "Series A" where as record new and repeat episodes for "Series B". Is this possible in WMC? I have a feeling this is not an option with WMC. Am I right?

    3. I tried to integrate WMC recordings in Media Browser. I was able to accomplish this by using the "WTV Meta Renamer" powerscript which basically moves recordings from "WMC recordings folder" to a folder that is formatted in a way that is supported by Media Browser. But then I started noticing that WMC was recording shows that were moved to a different folder the next time it aired. So, I just assumed that this is because WMC figured that the recording was removed before it was "watched" and so went ahead and recorded it again. Is my assumption correct? Is there any way around this?
