Setting up a password to wake up Windows 8

I have upgraded my laptop used for office work into Windows 8. I would like to set up a password for waking up my system as a part of ensuring its security. What are the steps for that?

Press the Windows Key + C on the keyboard and wait until the charms bar appears at the right side of the start screen. Go through that bar afterwards and click the ‘Search’ option. Once you can view the search field, type Control Panel into it. Click the ‘Control Panel’ option available in the search results. You can then view the ‘Control Panel’ window from which set the ‘View by’ option into ‘Small icons’. Then, navigate through the computer settings options and make a single click on ‘Power Options’ option. This will bring up the ‘Power Options’ window. Go to the left part of the windows and click the ‘Require a password on wakeup’ link. Locate ‘Password protection on wake up’ label from the ‘System Settings’ window afterwards and select the radiobox next to ‘Require a password’ option. After that, go to the bottom part of the window and hit the ‘Save Changes’ button. Quit all the windows afterwards and check whether your system asks for a password during wake up.

First, bring up the Control Panel. This can be done by pressing the Win + X keys and selecting Control Panel, or you can simply search for it from your Start screen as seen below.

2.Set your View by option to Small icons. Then select Power Options from the list of computer settings.

3.From the Power Options window, select Require a password on wakeup on the left-hand side.
    step-336-500x388.jpg
4.Now, you can select Require a password under Password protection on wake up. Then, after changing the settings, click on Save changes. Your chosen setting immediately enables.

Your system will ask you for your password next time you wake it up from sleep. By forcing this requirement, your computer will be more secure even if you walk away without remembering to lock it.
