"sfc/scannow" command not working on Windows XP even after logging in as Admin.

Soon after I enter the sfc/scannow command in the command prompt I get the message that "You must be an administrator running a console session is order to use this utility". But I am logging in from the administrator account, but still I get this message. What should I do now in order open the sfc utility? Please reply soon.

You should try this method in case you havenot tried this before,

Click Start, in the search box, type cmd,
From the result Right Click CMD.EXE,
From the resultant menu select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
Then type sfc/scannow and press enter.

You can also try to run the command by safe booting, and then ececuting the command.

hi dear friend................to solve this issue

first click the start menu and go to all programs

now point the Accessories then right click on command prompt from the popup

then choose RUN AS and select current user option and click the OK button

now type sfc/scannow command in the prompt

and if you are unable to run this command again ......simply restart the PC now

then press F8 key while it restarting up...... and choose the SAFE MODE option from the MENU

now open the command prompt ......in the safe mode and try again

    ALL THE BEST.......!!!!!!
