    Shut down issues with Dell laptop with Windows 7

    Whenever I try shutting down my Dell laptop with Windows 7, it starts updating some software and warns me to wait until the update gets complete. This keeps on repeating every time I try to shut it down. Please give me suggestions on how to avoid this?

    Dear friend,

    This service is known as Automatic Update Service, this service automatically updates your computer about the various new software releases by the Microsoft. It updates various softwares and install some packages to make your computer to have:
    1 High processing speed,
    2 Increase security from attackers or hackers trying to get a physical access to your system
    so as to steal your personal info.
    3 Increase security online ,from the fraud websites or from the websites having malacious
    softwares that can get into your system when ever you download a file from such websites,
    etc.

    I strongly recommend you to not to stop this service ,
    But if you want to stop then follow the following steps to stop the service:
    1 Press Ctrl+R , run dialog box will appear, enter services.msc
    2 A window will appear in front of you, look for service named Windows automatic updates.
    3 double click that service, a new window will appear in your front, then click on Stop to stop the service,

    Now the system will not ask you for automatic updates in future.........

    Take Care

    hi there,

    This happens when your internet is connected and your computer downloads and installs automatic Window Updates.

    If this makes you restless then you can easily turn it off. Here's the procedure :

    * open control Panel
    * open Window Updates
    * go to Change Settings in the left pane
    *Under the drop down important update, select never check for updates(not recommended)
    * press OK

    Well my friend this is the feature of the windows that the new updates that it downloads while you are working with your computer,it installs it when you are shutting down your computer.
    As you are facing this issue everytime it simply means it is every time downloading the new updates given by the microsoft.

    If you want you can get rid of this .
    Just you have to disable your automatic windows updates .

    ::::Here are the steps::::
    • Open the control panel of your computer.
    • In the window of control panel click on system and security.
    • Now click on the windows update and under that tick off the windows automatic update.
    That's all .If you want to update your windows drivers just do the same as above and click on the download the updates.
    Now windows will install updates only when you download them.

    hii

    As per your query it seems like your computer has automatic windows update on and hence it starts downloading the updates automatically ...

    Though you should not stop this process but i am giving you steps what you can do to stop these updates to start automatically :

    - Firstly open start menu and then click on run or open the search box
    - Type in 'update' and then press enter
    - In the search results look out for the windows update option and click that
    - Now you have to click change settings on the left side of the screen
    - Choose the option you want to select under the important updates area
    - After that you might be prompted with the window to provide administrator password ... just type in and click ok to continue and complete the process

    thanks

    As windows start updating your software and not allowing you to shutdown your laptop then ,

    Your windows update is ON and it automatically update and install software

    If you have a genuine copy of windows it is highly recommended to keep your windows update ON as

    => It gives you new features of windows

    => Your drivers will remain updated

    => Your system corrupted or damaged files get repaired

    You can change windows update settings . By doing this windows will download updates but not install them

    You can install whenever you want to install these updates

    => Open Start menu

    => Now type windows update in search box and press enter

    => Click on change settings in left companion

    => From the drop down box select "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them"

    => Click OK

    hi dear friend.............you are facing the shut down problem..... because of updating the windows

    while the windows are updating ....... there is delay in shutdown.....

    after the completion of update .....the problem will be resolved I mean the pc will shut down quickly as same as the previous

    and if you want to stop .....updating and shutdown quickly ....then cancel the updating

    for that first click on start menu and open the control panel

    after that click on the system and security option

    then click the windows update option

    after that click on the change settings option from the left pane

    and set the important updates as never check for the updates or any depending on your requirement

    this option will disable the further updates

    and after that click on the OK button

    .....all the best
