    Significance of colours in security status bar while visiting websites in HP notebook

    When I visit certain websites, I am seeing some colours near to the Security Status bar. Please share with me the significance of the same.

    When you visit a website using secure connection you can see certain colours near to the security status bar. This denotes the validity of certificates in the specific websites. The colour will vary depending upon the level of validation process by the certifying organization. Following are the specifications of various colours used in the security status bar.
    • Red- it means the certificate has some error or invalid or out of date
    • Yellow- means the authenticity of the certificate yet to be verified
    • White- means the certificate is valid under normal terms
    • Green- means the certificate has extended validation

    The color code is as follows:


    • Red- it means the certificate has some error or invalid or out of date
    • Yellow- means the authenticity of the certificate yet to be verified
    • White- means the certificate is valid under normal terms
    • Green- means the certificate has extended validation

    You will see generally four colors in Security Status Bar while visiting Websites in Web Browsers (like Chrome, Firefox, etc.)

    ~> Red - It means that certificate of this site is invalid or outdated.

    ~> Yellow - It means that Authenticity of this site is not verified yet.

    ~> White - It means that Certificate of this site is Valid under normal terms.

    ~> Green - It means that certificate of this site has Extended Validation. There is no threat to use this site. You can use it safely.

    Hi friend,
    The colors indicate the different meanings.
    If the colors are appeared due to installation of antivirus
    then it indicates the security of website that is whether its harmful or not
    and if the color is due to browser then it indicates the website ranking
    REGARDS.....................

    In generally after internet explorer 7 this color indication mostly popular.

    The colors in the security bar which you see when you visit a secure connection website tells you whether the certificate of the website is valid or not, and also it indiactes the level of validation that was performed by the certifying organization...

    The different colors which exists in the security bar and their significance are :

    # Red - This indicates that the certificate of the website is out of date and is not valid
    # Yellow - This indicates that the authenticity of the certificate is not verified yet
    # White - This indicates that the certificate has normal validation
    # Green - This indicates that the certificate uses extended validation
