    Steps for disabling Windows Defender on Windows 7

    I have recently installed an internet protection program into my PC running on Windows 7. But, it conflicts with the Windows Defender on my system. What should I do to turn it off?

    Press the ‘Start’ button and select the ‘Search’ option from start menu. Then, you need to type Windows Defender into the text field near ‘Search Programs and Files’ label and click the ‘OK’ button. Locate ‘Windows Defender’ from the search results and make single click on it. Once it opens, find out ‘Options’ option and click on it. This will bring up a menu from which select ‘Administrator’ option. You can then find a check box next to ‘Use this Program’ label. Uncheck that box and press the ‘Save’ button.

    Hello Guest,
    You can make changes in the system settings(Administrator account only), by clicking on "Start Menu" and and then type msconfig in the search box. A UAC interface will open up. Tap on the System tab, and make the desirable changes, keeping in mind not to change/interrupt the settings affecting boot load menu or any changes affecting system files(autoexec.bat, boot.ini) etc.
    THank You. Wishin you a merry x-mas and a happy new year in advance. :-)

    Re: Steps for disabling Windows Defender on Windows 7

    hi there,
    just follow the steps as i say to resolve your problem
    * Log in through an Administrative User Account, go to the Control Panel and run Windows Defender (the quirky thing here is your definition signatures got to be updated for you to be able to proceed further.)

    * Click 'Tools' and then 'Options' Scroll lower down and uncheck the 'Use Windows Defender' box.

    * Run the Services.Msc prompt, (Start ---> click Run ---> type Services.Msc) scroll down to double click the Windows Defender entry. Next stop the service and then set the Windows Defender drop-down startup type to disabled.

    *Run the MsConfig prompt, (Start ---> click Run ---> type MsConfig) Go to the Startup tab and uncheck the 'Windows Defender' box.

    * Reboot pc.

    You've disabled your Windows Defender successfully. It's not essential to uninstall it, unless you're a demented Perfectionist like me. The following procedure will uninstall Windows Defender.

    * Run a privileged Command prompt, by navigating to the 'C:\Windows\System32' directory and right clicking 'cmd.exe' to 'run as administrator'. Next type 'Sc Delete WinDefend' to delete the disabled service. You should receive the '[SC] DeleteService SUCCESS' notification.

    * Reboot once again.

    * Navigate to C:\Program Files and right-click on the 'Windows Defender' folder to gain ownership.

    * Right click the following registry key , take ownership and Full Control to delete and purge the Windows Defender leftover shortcuts from the 'Control Panel' and 'Start Menu':-
    You're about to delete a registry entry. Please backup the key before deleting it. It's going to be your sole responsibility if you screw up.
    Good-luck.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{D8559E B9-20C0-410E-BEDA-7ED416AECC2A}

    10.) A search of the registry will show up many more instances of Windows Defender leftovers. These entries can be deleted if you take ownership and Full Control before trying to delete them.
    hope this wil work for you...
    thnxxx.
