Steps to be taken for controlling the speed of mouse pointer on login screen in Windows XP

The speed of the mouse pointer in my PC running on Windows XP varies in login screen while using SwitchUser and Log off mode. When I use SwitchUser in login screen, I found the pointer speed remains in user configured speed. If I get into login screen using Log off mode, the speed will increase unnecessarily. What should I do to control the mouse pointer speed?

    Hi,

Possibly there are issues with your mouse driver and in bigger preview, virus may have played a part.

I would suggest you to Scan and clean the system thoroughly as there may have virus infection in the system which is responsible for the mouse behavior.

Once cleaned try to use the computer and observe the changes. If there is none, think of changing the Mouse Driver. For that go to :
Computer > Manage > Device Manager > Mouse > Uninstall first. then Update Driver to have a fresh copy of the mouse driver installed in your system.

    This should solve the problem.

    Thanks.

    Hi.
To adjust the speed of your mouse pointer

    1. Open Mouse in Control Panel.
    2. On the Pointer Options tab, under Motion, drag the slider.
    Note
    • To open Mouse, click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Mouse.
    • Adjusting the speed of your mouse pointer causes the pointer to respond more quickly or slowly to the movements of the mouse itself.
    • Select the Enhance pointer precision check box to provide finer control of your pointer at short distances without losing the ability to move the pointer quickly across the screen. Clear the check box to turn off this feature.
    • You can have the mouse snap to default buttons (such as OK or Apply) in dialog boxes by selecting Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box under Snap To.
    Thank you.
