SVCHOST-svchost.exe -k netsvcs slows down the performance of Windows XP

For the past few weeks, my PC running on Windows XP is extremely slow in doing any type operations. When I checked the system, I found that SVCHOST-svchost.exe -k netsvcs is using about 96% of CPU and it make the machine respond very slowly. I can’t find any malware or virus other than this. Is there any solution available for this problem?

This issue occurs while SVChost.exe files reside at incorrect location. Make certain that all SVChost.exe files can be found under C:\Windows\System32 folder. Go to the bottom left corner for that and right click on ‘Start’ button until a menu appears on the screen. Select ‘Search’ option from that menu. Enter SVChost.exe into field specified for the files you want to search. Choose ‘C’ drive from the drop down menu given under ‘Look in’ label. Click the ‘Search’ button visible on the current window. Once the search results start to appear on the window, you can check whether the SVChost.exe files remains in correct location.
