System freezes on connecting any USB device on Windows 2000 PC.

On connecting a USB mouse on my device I was surprised to see it not detecting other data within seconds. It may need some time to do a reset This is exactly why a USB camera is preferred?

Most of the problems with the removable devices as far as the Windows 2000 is concerned will be from the flash/pen drive that still has the factory Fat volume on it for which 2000 lacks any support. XP and many Linux distros on the other hand has the ability to read and write to Fat 16/32 volumes with real ease since XP, in particular maintained support and can be installed on Fat 16 or the 32 bit primary partitions. The best move now would to see any flash drive reformatted to ‘NTFS’ being the native file system mainly used by 2000 and all other newer versions of the Windows. This will prevent many lockups since the NTFS volumes can be readily mounted by the older version.

The problem with aged operating systems are that they can't keep up with the more advanced technology.

There are two types of formatting procedure, File Allocating Table, or FAT system,
and NTFS, again there are those eternal 16 bit - 32 bit issues.

Your USB device may have one format system in it and the Won2000 fails to understand that, leading to this vacuum of activity .

If you can format the Device in FAT 16/32 format to see the difference.

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say..........

1.This was the problem of your system hardware.

2.As you are using the Windows 2000.

3.Your system configuration may be very low.

4.So when you are connecting the USB it is slowing down.

5.Or this may be the OS problem too as it is old version it is not supporting the USB

    Have a nice day............
