System tray shows wrong icon while connecting to Wireless network with Windows 7

When I connect my laptop running on Windows 7 to a wireless network, the system tray displays “disconnected Ethernet cable” icon instead of “wireless bars” icon. How can I make my system to show the proper icon?

Go to the network icon displayed in system tray and right click on it. Choose ‘Open Network and Sharing Center’ from the available options and click the ‘Change adapter settings’ item. Select the adapter you want to connect to your PC. Click the ‘Uninstall’ option for every connection item. Check whether ‘disconnected ethernet cable’ icon disappears from the screen while doing this. Once you uninstall all connections, start installing all of them by clicking the ‘Install’ option. From then on, you can view ‘wireless bars’ icon on the system tray.
