Task Scheduler can’t do any tasks on Windows XP

Every time I try to run Task Scheduler on my laptop running on Windows XP, I am getting the message “Keyset does not exist” along with an error code 0X80090016. The task scheduler is not performing any kind of tasks due to this. What are the troubleshooting steps required to fix up this issue?

Type services.msc into the field appears on the screen after clicking the ‘Run’ option on start menu and press the ‘OK’ button. The start menu can be found after pressing the ‘Start’ button. Locate the ‘Protected Storage service’ afterwards and right click on it. This will bring up a menu from which select ‘Properties’ option. Choose ‘Automatic’ from the Startup Type list and make sure that the service status is displayed as started. Run the task scheduler again after pressing the ‘OK’ button. If you can still find the issue, then start up your system in safe mode. While you boot your system, press F8 key repeatedly and choose ‘Safe Mode’ from the screen using arrow keys. Once you log in to your system in safe mode, double click on ‘My Computer’ icon and select ‘Folder Options’ under ‘Tools’ menu. Press the ‘View’ tab afterwards and click the checkbox next to ‘Show hidden files and folders’ label. Hit the ‘OK’ button and delete all files inside “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18” folder. Reboot your system and run the task scheduler again after entering corresponding password for each job.
