No. There is no need to format the hard disk before installing Windows 7 on your computer. The formatting of the hard disk is usually required at the time of custom installation that includes the starting as well as booting of the computer by making use of the Windows 7 installation disc. Same is the situation if you are making use of a USB Flash drive. It has to be taken note that it is not desirable for the users to make use of any other program from any other software manufacturers especially if you are using an upgraded version of Windows 7. It is advised to format the hard disk during the Windows 7 installation.

Hiii..my friend..it is not compulsory to format your hars disk before windows 7 installation. However the option to format your hard disk is available during a custom installation if you start, or boot, your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or a USB flash drive, but formatting isn't required.

    Hello,

No there is no need to format the complete hard disk before the OS installation.

However you will eventually have to format one of the disk in whichyou chose to install the OS.

So make sure that you copy all the important data from that drive and than install the OS.

    Hi,

Formatting is required but only that partition is required to be formatted on which any previous version of windows or any other operating system or windows 7 itself is installed. This is done so that the previous files do not conflict with windows files.

    Remember, Formatting is:
    • Required when the hard disk is completely new.
    • Required on a specific partition if any other operating system is installed in it & you want to install windows on it.
    • Required on a specific partition where you want to Re-install your copy of windows.
    • Not Required when repairing your windows installation.
    • Not Required when you require to run many operating systems simultaneously.
    That's it. Good luck.

No, there is no need to format hard disk before windows 7 installation. The option to format your hard disk is available during a custom installation......... formatting isn't required at your start, or boot, your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or in case of USB flash drive. But If you are using an upgrade version of Windows 7, don't use a program from another software manufacturer to format your hard disk before installing Windows 7. Instead, format the hard disk during Windows 7 installation.

    Hello friend,
~~> Formatting of entire hard disk is not necessary but you must format the drive on which you want to install the operating system, usually C drive.
~~> Because C drive consists of previous version of OS files, they need to be cleared for fresh installation.
~~> If C drive not formatted space will be wasted to store the previous version files.
~~> If it is new hard disk it needs partitions, after completion of partitioning installation process will automatically format the specific drive and installs the OS.
~~> Finally formatting of entire hard disk is not needed but formatting the C drive is necessary.
    Hope you got required information.

    Dear,

If you want to Boot Your system then you can boot but it is not necssacry to boot the complete Hard disk. You can boot only the required disk drive, if you boot the complete Hard disk then you will loose all the collection of your data. So if it necessary to boot then you can save the some of the imoprtant data in any external HDD or may be in any other External storage devices. So before booting the system, firstly be sure you need to boot the Full HDD or Not.

    dear friend,
No my friend there is no need of formating the hard drive.

If you are installing the windows then you just need to format the C-drive.

As if no data is present in C-drive so you can format the old window and can install the new window.

But if you want to store the new data then you can format the whole drive.

when you install the window you will be asked where to install and which drive to format then choose option very wisely.

    best of lk...

No you don't need to format your hard disk if you system is run fastly,
But if there is problem or hanging in your system due to Virus or any other effected item
Then there is a solution to install Antivirus on your System after Installing Operating System 7,
And update your antivirus from internet.

    Hi,

The answer to your question here is no it is not mandetaryto format the Hdd before installation.

But you need to know what is a formatting. Formatting is a process by which the Computer with the aid of HDD re forms North and South poles all over the platters electrically on which the future installed programs rearrange polarity and write data all over the HDD. All binery codes , hex codes machine languages re simply north-south pole arrangements. So by formatting a fresh polar sementation happens and data can be read/write at ease without corruption and past intervention. Also no virus, malware and lots of media corruption (If not major corruption) can be removed by formatting. The HDD will act like a fresh page to be used.

So take that into consideration, but yes too many formatting reduces the magnetism-polarity of the HDD rendering it lifeless junk.

    Thank you.

--> Double click on CD/DVD Drive for opening windows 7.After opening the windows 7 , click on "setup.exe" to start installation.
--> now your window 7 installation window will open.click on "Installation now".
--> now new window 7 licence will open.select the "I accept the Licence terms" and then click on "next".

    Hello friend,

No. There is no need of formatting the hard disk before installing windows.

You need to format only the Hard drive:c to delete all the previous OS files

and to install the present OS files.

1.To do it first insert the CD/DVD of Windows 7 and go to my computer.

2.Then by making a right click open it.

3.Now click on the option 'Setup.exe' to start installation.

4.Now install the Windows 7 as you install the other OS.

5.By accepting all the terms and condition.

That's it while doing this it ask to format all the drives you just reject and format only Local disk:C.

    Have a nice day...........

    Hello dude,

=> You can format your windows file drive (C:\) only windows installation time.
=> Its not mandatory to format your windows installation drive(C:\) While installing new windows. If you didn't format your previous windows files, It occupy the drive by windows.old folder. It Contains more memory and you can't delete this folder completely. So I Suggest you to format this drive while Installing new windows.

    Good Luck.,

Re: Is there any need to format hard disk before Windows 7 installation?

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem that is.......

1.You need not need to format the entire hard disk to install the Windows 7.

2.First insert the Windows 7 CD then open the CD Drive.

3.Then click on the option Install now.

4.Then select the drive in which you want to install the Windows 7.

5.It's better to select the Local Disk:C so that all the before OS Software will be formatted.

6.And the New OS that of Windows 7 will be downloaded.

That's it by doing as i said you can install Windows 7 in your computer without formatting total hard disk so that all your important files will be protected.

    All the best..........

Re: Is there any need to format hard disk before Windows 7 installation?

hi dear friend............ there is no need to format the hard disk before windows 7 installation

because of windows 7 provides the advanced format options

by using this we can format only the single drive .....not the total Hard disk

and some mother boards allows both the OS's in single Drive ......but it is depending on mother board only

and if not allowing causes....just format the single Drive that is HOME drive

and install the WINDOWS 7 in the same drive or any Drive......depending on your choice

THANK YOU and ALL THE BEST

    Dear friend,

There will be no need of formatting your computer to install the
    Windows 7 in your computer.

While you are formatting it will show all the drives of your cmputer.

there you format the drive which you want only.

and you can leave without formatting any drive which you want.

At last you have to format Local Disk:C and the Windows 7 will be installed in that drive.

    Thanks............

    Dear friend,

Windows 7 Installation needs at least 20 GB free Hard Disk Space.

If you are upgrading your PC from XP to 7, then you don't need Formatting your Hard Disk.

But, if you are doing fresh installation of Windows 7, then PC will automatically format your drive (say C:, D:, or E:).

You don't need to format your drive, during installation, it will be automatically formatted.

    Of course Not!

You don't need to format the entire hard disk before installation of windows 7 operating system!

First of all insert a dvd into the dvd drive

Start the installation process by pressing set up file for two times with mouse

After that accomplish the installation process successfully

If you are doing a window XP operating system then your system will ask whether to format or not

Select the option there but in your case, you don't need to format before windows 7 installation!

    That's it over!
