Touch pad options grayed out on Control Panel in Windows Vista

I need to disable the touch pad on my notebook running on Windows Vista. But when I went to touch pad properties in Control Panel, I found only driver information is active. All the other options are grayed out on the ‘Control Panel’ window. In what way can I fix this issue?

You can try two simple methods which can possibly solve the problem of yours.

    1. Boot in safe mode, press multiple times F8 at the beginning of the booting process, after booting in Safe Mode,
try to get into TOUCHPAD settings and do what you need to. If the process doesn't yeild, follow the next.

    2. Boot with an Administrator Password, which will eneble you to work as an administrator.
now, get into TOUCHPAD option and tinker with the options.

Try them and one will help you to fullfill your desire.
