Transfer through data cable not possible.

I work on a Windows XP Service Pack 2. Whenever I insert the USB device into my PC for file transfer through Mass Storage Device, it does not work. I also have the PC Suite installed. I have checked my data cable and it is fine. Please help me with this.

    dear friend,

At first check your data cable-whether it is working or not.

Connect the data cable to any other phone & try to data transfer-you may check it also in a different PC.

The main thing is, if you see that the data cable is not working & your phone is working with a different data cable then replace the older one.

Then check your PC suit version.

If it is of older version then upgrade it to the latest i.e PC Suite v. 7.0.8.2.

You may also download & try the new Nokia OVI suite.

But before transferring data, make sure that you've selected the Data Storage mode.

If this also doesn't work then try other USB ports or any other computer to connect.

If you see the response in any other computer then perform a system restore in your computer.

Else contact to your nearest Nokia care & ask for the servicing of your phone.

    Hi,
as you have checked the cable that is used to transfer files for its integrity, and its fine,
do a fresh installation of USB driver files that windows use to do the specific job.
Verify after uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers if you are able to transfer. Perform the following steps:

    Click Start, then Control Panel.

Click System and Maintenance, click System, then click Device Manager.

If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, then click Device Manager.

If prompted for an administrative password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on "Host Controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Check if there is an exclamation mark along the driver, it suggests trouble of driver installed

Uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

If still there is the problem then you should check for the updated USB device drivers using windows update or logging in to official microsoft site for the driver.

    Thank you.

The problem could be because of interruption in detection and installation of hardware you might have press close your computer showed notification , 'found new hardware' so you can now restore your window XP again insert your data cable and let your computer detect your hardware till your computer says , hardware installed successfully and ready for use.

Re: Transfer through data cable not possible.

hi dear friend...........to resolve the issue follow the instructions

first check the ports .....which are working or not

If there is any problem in the ports ......then also the DATA transfer is not possible

and to check the port problems ......first click the start menu and open the RUN program

then in that type dxdiag and press ENTER key from the keyboard and click YES

after that choose the input TAB ......and see the NOTES box

if there any error .....appears ......then uninstall the USB drivers and Re-install the USB drivers

other wise there is problem in the Hard ware... ( port )

and If there is any error in the MASS STORAGE ( memory card, USB ) then also the DATA transfer is not possible

and check whether the MASS STORAGE device working or not

    .....all the best
