Unable to access Portable devices in windows 7

I asked my friend to give me his Pen drive so that I can copy movies from his Pen drive but when I inserted the Pen drive, it shows a message “F:/ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable.” The same USB drive is accessible in other computers but not mine. I have checked some other usb as well and the result was again same. What should I do now?

    My dear friend,
You get this error when the filesystem or folder gets damaged.
Use chkdisk utility to detect the problem, when it detects the problem repair the damage.
To do so, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type chkdsk /f <drive>:, where <drive> is the letter of the drive on which the damaged file, folder or file system index exists.
    3. Click OK.
    OR

you can try the USB in other ports also sometimes ports can also give you t
    his error.

    All the best.

    Hello friend,

you must INITIALIZE it to the Operating system.

Then Guess Plug and Play sort of went away over more secure/ extra steps needed to access hardrives.

    Also Go for Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Storage-Disk Management .

    Job done..!!!!!
