Unable to connect the network in my Windows Vista as it is forcing to create a new network

I have connected the modem to my Ethernet and now I am not able to connect to the network and get the internet. When I checked with the network icon on the taskbar there is only “Create network” and it asks for ISP. What does it mean? How to make internet work in my Windows Vista?

Hay it not a serious problem... the problem is that you had not save the network and had not made it default...
You may solve the problem, by the following way...
1)Just create a network and save it before connecting...
2)After the connection you will be shown to choose the type of the network, save it as public network..
    #####Your problem will be solved...
