The multiple tab function on Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (IE7 and IE8), allows the surfer to have several Web pages open at once without opening multiple, system-slowing, browser windows. Tabs were not available on Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) according to Microsoft. When closing the browser window, a dialog pops up if you have multiple tabs opened. This request to "Close all tabs" becomes a hindrance for some. Stop this pop up query from appearing when you close your Internet Explorer 7 or 8 browser if it is getting in your way.

    Instructions

    • Change Tabbed Browsing Settings

      • 1Open Internet Explorer 7 or 8.

      • 2Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Internet options."

      • 3Click on the "General" tab and click "Settings" in the "Tabs" area.

      • 4Uncheck the box next to "Warn me when closing multiple tabs."

      • 5Click "OK," and restart Internet Explorer for your settings to take place.

Use "Close All Tabs" Dialog Box

      • 6Open Internet Explorer, and press "Ctrl" and "T" at the same time to open a second tab.

      • 7Click on the "X" in the upper left corner to close Internet Explorer.

      • 8Click on "Show Options" when the box appears asking "Do you want to close all tabs?"

      • 9Check the box next to "Do not show me this dialog again."

      • 10Click on the "Close tabs" button to apply the changes.
