    Hello friend....

Don't worry i will tell you the reason for your problem

1.your system may be infected by any virus or malware.

2.your system OS may be corrupted.

3.you may have deleted the OS files then you just try to backup your system.

4.or the file you want to install/uninstall may be corrupted.

Re: Unable to install or uninstall any programs in Windows XP

    Hi,
Your problem regarding Installation/Uninstallation is happening due to the missing or corrupt installer/uninstaller assisting file that Windows has for the operations.

The miss or corruption has happend because of probably either viral infection or a wrong registry entry that deleted the real entry from registry.

Scan the system for possible infection of virus and clean them with an antivirus.

Edit registry by typing regedit from command prompt and check windows related entries which i`ll never suggest unless you are a professional and can handle registry tweaking.

If nothing is happening, reinstall Windows as a final measure.

    Thank you.

Re: Unable to install or uninstall any programs in Windows XP

    Hi friend,

As the system is not responding to the programs or the Operating system is not performing the uninstalling tasks, the following could be the reasons:-

    1. The Operating System might not be genuine and it might have got corrupted.

    2. The programs you installed might have been corrupted.

    3. Your Program might have not been installed properly.

    4. Your PC might have been attacked by the Malware or the Virus.

    5. Either you have deleted the program files of the Operating System.

    6. Or you might deleted the files related to the software that you have installed.

The best thing for you to do is install the Windows XP service pack 2 it is very much compatible and comfortable and reliable too.

There you might not get any problems like you mentioned earlier.

What you do is just install SP2 with no data of yours being erased.

Hope i have helped you in getting relevant information.

    All the best

    Thanking you....

    Friend,
This problem may be occuring because,
Your system may be infected by the virures.
So install a good antivirus and run a full scan of the system which would consume some time.
Now try to uninstall the programes, if the issue still remains then their is a possibility
that you might have deleted some system files, or your OS has some missed files.
Format your System and then again put XP SP3.

    you will be done.

Re: Unable to install or uninstall any programs in Windows XP

I would suggest you to perform a System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer
    Steps to perform SFC scan:
    1. Click the Start button
    2. From the Start Menu, Click All programs followed by Accessories
    3. In the Accessories menu, Right Click on the Command Prompt option
    4. From the drop down menu that appears, Click on the 'Run as administrator' option
    5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked for authorization prior to the command prompt opening. You may simply need to press the Continue button if you are the administrator or insert the administrator password etc.
    6. In the Command Prompt window, type: sfc /scannow and then press Enter
    7. A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'
    8. Be patient because the scan may take some time
    9. If any files require replacing SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue
    10. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"
    11. After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check
