Unable to open any type of files or folders on Windows XP

Each time I try to open a file or folder in my PC running on Windows XP, I will receive the error message “Windows cannot find C;\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe”. I can’t access the contents of the particular file or folder due to this. Is there any solution available for this problem?

The Rundll32.exe file may be missing or corrupted on your system due to the virus attack. To resolve this issue, first insert the Windows XP CD ROM disk into the CD ROM drive in your PC. Then, click the ‘Start’ button and wait until you can see the start menu on the screen. Navigate through that menu and click the ‘Run’ option available in it. Enter expand X: \i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe into the ‘Open’ box inside the Run dialog box. You need to replace X with the letter of the CD ROM drive. Press the ‘Enter’ key afterwards and wait until the process get finished. After that, restart your PC and try to open a file or folder.
