Unable to open Windows Media Player since installing Windows Vista

There is audio problem with Windows Media Player while I was using Windows XP with PC. Even so, it was possible to play, rip or burn CDs with the Media Player. But since upgrading my PC to Windows Vista, I can’t launch the Media Player or use its Network Sharing Service. What are the trouble shooting steps available to fix up this issue?

Perform SFC scan on your system and then again scan it using Malwarebytes to confirm that your system is clean. Open up the start menu by clicking the ‘Start’ button and navigate into All Programs->Accessories. Locate the ‘Command Prompt’ option and right click on it. Select ‘Run as Administrator’ option from the right click menu and type the password or click ‘Allow’ option according to the prompt message. Type the command sfc /scannow into the command prompt before pressing the ‘Enter’ key. To scan with Malwarebytes, you need to first start up your system in safe mode. Press the F8 key for 3 seconds while booting the system and highlight ‘Safe Mode with Networking’ using Up/Down arrow keys from the ‘Advanced Boot Options’ menu. Press the ‘Enter’ key afterwards and wait until the desktop get displayed on the screen. Go to link http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...html?tag=mncol using a browser and download Malwarebytes. Install it afterwards and click on the ‘Scan’ button.

    Hi,

You need to take a few steps to correct the problems that you are encountering.

First, Disable the WMP from your system by using , CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS > TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON/OFF > MEDIA FEATURES > WMP set it to OFF.

Reboot the system and again turn it ON by the same procedure. Watch for the development.

Secondly, run sfc/scannow, from the COMMAND PROMPT in START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>COMMANDPROMPT, this should cross check the WMP files for ant corruption and fix it if possible. Reboot and watch out.

If nothing is still happening, log into Microsoft Official website and dowmload a fresh copy of WMP and install it .

    Thanks.
