Unable to open Windows Photo Gallery on Windows Vista

My PC is currently running on Windows Vista and I canít launch Windows Photo Gallery app in it. Whenever I make an attempt to open it, the app tends to close by itself after showing its page for few seconds. How can I fix up this issue?

    Hi,

It is possibly a good time for you to re install "Windows Photo Gallery" for the second time to have all benefits of the software.

Here`s how you should proceed :

    1. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features."
    2. Click "Turn Windows Features On/Off."
    3. Click "Continue," and check the box next to "Windows Photo Gallery."
    4. Click "OK" and close "Control Panel".
    5. Go to "Windows Photo Gallery" webpage, Click "Download Now" .
    6. Click "Open" on the "File Download" dialog box, then after downloading, click "Run" .
    7. Complete the installation. Check the box next to "Photo Gallery" only. Complete installation, Photo Gallery will be restored.

    Thanks.

Do you have another user account that you can try Windows Photo Gallery and see if you get the same error message? If you do try it with another account and don't get the message try going through the following steps and see if it resolves your issue.

    1. Click the Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box

    2. Type folder options in the Start Search box, and click the Folder Options program

    3. Select the View tab

    4. In the Advanced Settings window, underneath Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files and folders

    5. Click OK

    6. Navigate to the following folder ( %user% is the name of the account having the problem):

    C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery

    7. Copy any files in here to another location as a back up and then delete them from the Windows Photo Gallery directory

Once the files are deleted, try to start Windows Photo Gallery.

After that go back in to folder options and select Do not show hidden files and folders

Let us know if you have any other problems. Thank you

    Hi,

I think this is happening because the app had got corrupted.
I will advise you to uninstall the app.
Then again download it from the internet and install it in your system.
Once you'll do this, everything will work well!

    Bye!

Check if you are able to open it in the safe mode.
Steps to boot to Safe mode
    1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
    2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
    3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
    4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.
    6. You should see drivers loading, and then Please wait.
    7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.
    8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

or you can try this ........................

    Instructions

      • 1Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features."
