Whenever I create a shortcut Icon on the Desktop in my Windows Vista System, it has a small arrow. I need to remove it. I did many trials, but could not remove the short arrow. Please, help me in solving the problem. Thank you in advance. Thank you.

Re: Unable to remove the arrow from the shortcut Icon in Windows Vista

You can remove the short arrow on the shortcut. This can be done by freeware Windows Shortcut Arrow Editor. You can download HERE. Install and open it. You can see four radio buttons namely,

    • Windows Default.
    • Classic Arrow.
    • No Arrow.
    • Custom.
You can select the one which you want. If you want to remove the short arrow, you should select the radio button No Arrow. Restart the system, your problem is solved.

Open Notepad and write the following into it,
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons]
    "29"="empty.ico,0"
    Save it as noshortcutarrow.reg ,
set file type to "All File" Types.
Double-Click on "noshortcutarrow.reg" resulting in a pop up window asking "if you want to merge data with Registry",
    click "ok",
Refresh Explorer or Log Off and back on to view changes.
    That`s all,
There should be no shortcut arrows any further.

If it seems too complicated , use Ultimate Windows Tweaker software that can remove arrows for you.

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultimate-windows-tweaker-v2-a-tweak-ui-for-windows-7-vista is the site to download.

    Thanks.
