Unable to Update the Printer List in Windows 7

I have a desktop having windows 7 (32-bit) installed. I purchased an HP 6122 printer. In the manual ,it was written that the only way to install its driver in windows 7 is to update the printer list by clicking on to "windows update" button which appear in "Add a Printer" dialog window. I have followed the steps of the manual and thus clicked that button several time but everytime, I do that, windows flashes an error "Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update.Try again Later". Can you help me?

Every time to add the printer we have to follow these steps:-
    1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)

    2. Click Sevices Tab and then Services Button (Bottom Right)
    3. Under Name find "Windows Update"
    4. Right click "Windows Update" and select Stop. do not close
    5. Open Window Exploper and browse to C:\Windows
    6. Delete the Folder "SoftwareDistribution"
    7. Go back to Servies, Right click "Windows Update" and select Start.
Now the "Windows Update" button should work. For me I have to do this every time I install a printer which requires me to use windows update.

    Hi,
The problem you are witnessing is something to be annoyed and let me try something if that helps.

follow these steps to resolve the issue:

    1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)

    2. Click Sevices Tab and then Services Button.

    3. Find "Windows Update"

    4. Right click "Windows Update" and select Stop.
    (do not close the window)
    5. Open "Window Exploper" and browse to C:\Windows

    6. Delete Folder "SoftwareDistribution"

    7. Go back to "Task Manager" then goto "Services", Right click "Windows Update" and
    select "Start".

    8. Get back to the " Add Printer" option. (This will take several minutes).
And you will find that the "SoftwareDistribution" folder has been rebuilt.

You try those steps and hopefully find the solution.
    Thank you.
