Unable to use Windows Update installed on Windows XP

Even though I have successfully installed Windows Update into my PC running on Windows XP, I am having trouble in using the update. Whenever I make an attempt to use it, I am getting the error 0x80070424. Also, it is not possible to enable auto updates in security center. Is there any fix available for this problem?

Navigate into the bottom part of the desktop and press the ‘Start’ button on the left most corner of the task bar. You can then find a menu with lot of options on the screen. Choose ‘Run’ option from that menu and click on it. A small window will then appear on the bottom part of the screen. There will be an ‘Open’ field and three buttons on that window. Type the command, %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE%SYSTEMROOT%\SYS TEM32\WUAUENG.DLL into that field. After that, press the ‘OK’ button next to the field.
