Re: VLC Player hangs when opening ‘.mkv’ files

You can use MKV player to easily play these files (.mkv)
Download mkv player from this link
    http://www.mkvfileplayer.com/mkvfileplayer_setup.exe

    The Easiest Method (VLC)

    * With the VLC player you are actually getting two things; a fine player with support for Matroska, and support for most video and audio streams you will find in an MKV file. This means that you most likely will not have to install any extra codecs or filters, depending on what your streams are.

** Click File and click the Open File option.

*** Now, click the Browse button next to the first white line at the top of the window with title "Open.." and navigate through your harddrive for
the video you wish to watch and select it. After you have selected the video, click OK and VLC will start playing the video you chose.

Re: VLC Player hangs when opening ‘.mkv’ files

VLC does support MKV files. However, sometimes, we still have trouble in playing MKV in VLC when the MKV files is HD or the file length is long as it seems that VLC Player has problem in handling HD MKV files. To successfully play MKV files in VLC, you can find a solution in Google or Yahoo by typing "Import/Add MKV Videos VLC to Enjoy 720P, 1080P and 5.1 AC3 MKV in VLC". I find my own solution in this way.
