Re: What is the difference between backup and recovery? What should I create for my Windows backup or recovery?

What is the difference between Backup and Recovery?Backup and recovery systems are used for the protection and retention of data. Backup is used to keep copies of data for data protection purposes, while recovery is used for salvaging data that is already lost. In other words, backup can be considered a precautionary method (making and keeping copies of data in case they get lost), while recovery is a cure for already lost data. Even though, precaution is always better than cure, there are many occasions when recovery is needed simply because some users do not take enough time/effort for backing up their data on a regular basis. One advantage of backing up is that there is a guarantee that the data is secure, while it is difficult guarantee that the recovery will always work. Using backed up data in case of a data loss can be considered easier and quicker than recovering a lost file (which could be quite tedious depending on the situation). However recovery could be the only solution in extreme cases like when both the original and backed up data is lost.

    • You will have to wait a moment, while Windows launches the backup tool.
    • Once the Set up backup window loads, you will see a list of backup destinations.

    • If you wish to connect to an external hard drive, connect the drive now and then click > Refresh.

    • Once the desired backup destination appears in the list, select it and click on >Next in the bottom right.

    • On the next screen, you can choose what to back up and you can either decide to > Let Windows choose or > Let me choose, i.e. choose yourself

    hi!!!!!!!!!
Backup : Backup in simple terms means all the data in your system is stored somewhere safe so that if by any chance your system crashes youstill have your data somewhere else. So back up is like you have copy of your data somewhere else other than your own system. One should keep their data backed up in more than one place i.e you back it up in cds, dvds, pendrives, external hard disk etc.

Recovery: is when you try to retrieve the data which has been lost provided you did not back it up.It usually involves software systems which wil help try to recover data be it from a corrupt hard disk,or some other source.Recovery applies when you have already lost your data.

So now that we are clear what you need to do is back up your data so that you don't lose it.
    How to do it?
Store data in cds, dvds, pendrives specially essential data and if you have external hard disk there too.
best source would be to save it on internet on emails a s then you will never lose it...right!!!!)))))))))

There is not much difference in the back up or recovery but in the recovery you can get the deleted data from your computer and the back up means the data which is used to get back instantly from your computer and backup is used for the battery backup etc.you can restore or recover your files from the windows recovery software which is to be installed in your computer.

recovery software recover all deleted files and folder . videos or other think who was deleted.
n backup software create a copy of ur recent files in safe mode. when ur real files u can use the copy of ur files in it.
n i think both r effected . but backup is more is than recovery software in work.

Re: What is the difference between backup and recovery? What should I create for my Windows backup or recovery?

Backup: If you think of your Documents library as the center of your data universe, and keep an elaborate series of folders and files there and in other libraries, then youll understand the necessity of backing up these crucial files on a regular basis. To this end, Windows 7 supports both automatic and manual data backup options, enabling you to choose which files to back up and when. You can then restore your backups at any time to recover previous versions of documents, or to replace a file you may have accidentally deleted.Windows 7 feature called System Image Backup to create what is called a system image or snapshot. This image, which is essentially a huge backup file contains the entire contents of your PC as it existed the day you created the image. If you need to recover your entire PC, you can simply restore the system image and get right back to work.

    Recovery:
Windows 7 offers the following two excellent ways to recover lost files:

    Previous Versions:
If you want to recover an older version of a document, perhaps because you made an editing error and then saved it, you can use this feature to access previous versions of the file.
System Restore: If you make a change to your system that renders the PC unstable, such as installing a bad driver, you can use this feature to return to a previous state in time, or restore point. When you reboot, none of your data has been changed, but the rest of your system configuration returns to that of the day and time the restore point was first made.

Friend, backup and recovery are same. There is not much difference between these two. Recovery is used to bring data in to your computer which was specified at the time of recovery. You can set the Restore Point and can Recover the System. Back up is used to save the data of your System safe which will not be deleted at the time of System Crash. You can get back the data with these Techniques.

    Dear,

Restore data : A restore is performed in order to return data to its original condition if files have become damaged, or to copy or move data to a new location.

Back up : Backup is usually a routine part of the operation of large businesses with mainframes as well as the administrators of smaller business computers. For personal computer users, backup is also necessary but often neglected. The retrieval of files you backed up is called restoring them.

    BACK UP:
Backup technology deals with making and keeping copies of data.
    • Back up is generally done for protection against data loss due to human mistakes, system malfunction and natural disasters.

    • When back up data is retrieved it is called as restoring.

    • It is a prevention.

    RECOVERY:
Recovery is not related to prevention of data loss.
    • Recovery software deal with salvaging data that is already lost due to many reasons such as
      • physical damage in storage devices

      • errors in logical file structure of the operating systems

      • accidental deletion of files.
    • It is done by using live cd or undelete software.
    • It is generally a cure.

Generally while working with PC back up should be preferred as :

    • Precaution is always better than cure.

    • Advantage of backing up is that there is a guarantee that the data is secure

    • While recovery will work everytime is not sure.

    • Recovery process could be quite tedious.

Re: What is the difference between backup and recovery? What should I create for my Windows backup or recovery?

    HELLO GUEST

In general, backup and recovery refers to the various strategies and procedures involved in protecting your database against data loss and reconstructing the database after any kind of data loss.

A backup is a copy of data from your database that can be used to reconstruct that data.
Backup refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event. These additional copies are typically called "backups." Backups are useful primarily for two purposes. The first is to restore a state following a disaster (called disaster recovery). The second is to restore small numbers of files after they have been accidentally deleted or corrupted.

Recovery is another method of data protection used today. But instead of prevention of data loss, recovery software deal with salvaging data that is already lost due to many reasons such as physical damage in storage devices, errors in logical file structure of the operating systems and accidental deletion of files. Most often, recovery is needed because of failures in the operating systems making it impossible to access the files on the same partition. This is typically done using a Live CD. Incase of accidental deletion, there are many undelete software that will recover the deleted files.

So you can choose now which will be the better option for you.

    Thanks Dear,
    Have a Good Night

    dear:::
Backup is a trivial procedure and well documented in the first part. Recovery is what matters most. It's the one important part that should decide whether you're going to use an imaging solution. Now, since I could not take screenshots of the software in use on real hardware, I created a test scenario on a virtual machine, but the concept is, for all practical purposes, identical.

    hello friend . . .

Their is a lot difference between backup and recovery.

    Backup:
Backup is nothing but copy the important location files and folders. and necessary files and folders from your system into another storage device. if you lost your files and Folder. you can easily restore those files and folders easily.

Backup is an technology to take important files and folders duplicates into another storage space. as the same manner windows backup is supported to take a setting as backup. when ever the system crashed or lost the settings the we can easily restore the system.

Mostly windows is given one back and maintenance tool for taking backup. if you not much familiar that tools to you. you can download and install third party backup applications Fron the Internet. In Internet we have so many backup related soft wares are available .

    Recovery
    :
Recovery is nothing but getting losses information. what ever it may be file or it may be folder or it may be a settings related file.
Recovery is also a technique to getting the losted files and folders. Which was support from the softwares .
In generally in windows operating system . once create an file . if you delete that file just indexing is deleted from system directory information.
That data was stored on hard disk tracks. Some software are support to get back that information again. This is nothing but recovery.
Download and install data recovery soft wares from internet and getting the losted information.

    Reasons For Taking Backup:
1.if any driver crashed in your system.
    2. unwanted program is delete your all files and folders.
    3. some virus program is effected to system files.
    4. when the hardware fail for latest downloaded information.
    5. unexpectedly deleted an file from your system.
    6. unexpectedly hard disk fail to load all files and folders.

and some many reason are their for taking backup.
take backup . enjoy the environment in secure manner.

    All the best
    Thanks . . .

    hi my dear friend......

    BACKUP:

the backup is used to get the lost data....when you lost any data from your computer

then by using this option to get back your data or files or folders...for that

you need to create a backup first ...at the begining. ( that is when installing windows )

    RESTORE:

the restore is the process of ...getting the data of damaged, failed, corrupted, and inaccessible secondary storage...

if there is any problem in windows ....and missing settings cases ....the option will be useful

But recovery is used for getting back data that is already lost. There were no copies kept but when the data gets lost it is lost and you will have to retrieve it with the help of retrieval softwares.

Re: What is the difference between backup and recovery? What should I create for my Windows backup or recovery?

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem it is.........

Backup:-It is also called as backing up process it means that it
will make the copies of the system files which are used to run the
system properly and replaces that files when they are deleted
accidentally. These additional copies are called as 'Backups'.

Recovery:-It is different from the term Backup. It is used for
restoring data from the CD's, Tapes, Disks and from the Photo
memory cards that have been damaged accidentally.

This is the main difference between the backup and the Recovery.

You can restore your data by storing that data in CD's, USB's etc,........
where you want you try to store the data. There is no need to create
anything for the backup it is for your System files i.e., your OS files.

    Have a nice day..............

back up is nothing but storing of files.

Generally, the users saves the data as back up.

Due to this, if something happens to the file, then they can make use of the back up file.

Recovery is nothing but getting back of the files which are removed or deleted.

There is an advantage with the option of recovery also.

When you lost something important, then through recovery you can get it back.

So, no affect at all for your business.

BACKUP := In information technology, a backup or the process of backing up refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event. These additional copies are typically called "backups." The verb is back up in two words, whereas the noun is backup

    Some Back up softwares

    1. #7Z 2. #BKFRecovery
    3. 123 Outlook Express and Windows Mail Backup
    4. 12Ghosts Backup
    5. 1Click Backup
    6. 1st NTFS Recovery

RECOVERY := Restoring data from disks, tapes, CDs and digital photo memory cards that have been damaged by accidents, natural disasters, power surges and malfunctioning electronics.

you can try Third Party Softwares Like

    1.Panda Recovery

Pandora Recovery actually recovers files permanently removed from Recycle Bin, files originally deleted using Shift + Delete keys bypassing Recycle Bin and files deleted from DOS prompt. Pandora Recovery allows you to find and recover recoverable deleted files from NTFS-formatted volumes, regardless of their type - you can recover pictures, songs, movies or documents

    2.TOKIWA DataRecovery

DataRecovery is freeware and written by TOKIWA to undelete accidentally deleted files even from recycle bin. It supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS undeletion. Even in both NTFS compressed files and EFS encrypted files

    3.Undelete Plus

Undelete Plus is a quick and effective way to restore accidentally deleted files. It can also recover files that have been emptied from the Recycle Bin, permanantly deleted files within Windows using the Shift + Delete, and files that have been deleted from within a Command Prompt. Undelete Plus works under Win 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista operating systems. The program supports all Windows file systems for hard and floppy drives including FAT12/16/32,NTFS/NTFS5 and image recovery from CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia and Secure Digital cards.

Re: What is the difference between backup and recovery? What should I create for my Windows backup or recovery?

    Hi,

The Backup and Recovery are two different things in same guise.

while Backup is the process where files are protected and stored on a seperate media other than the bootable media for future reference, when the files should be required and called bach at any point in time. A software built in or otherwise handles the process and backs up files , data according to your wish.

But Recovery is different idea. Recovery is used to rescue the whole system from any disturbing situation when it can bring back sanity to the system which is otherwise insane. Recovery diskette contains a lot of data, files , drivers and codes which is neither developed by you or directed by you to be copied, the system itself creates the rescue or recovery and it directs which files are to be written on the disk unlike backup when you direct files to be written.

    Thanks.

Re: What is the difference between backup and recovery? What should I create for my Windows backup or recovery?

backup and recovery are same. There is not much difference between these two. Recovery is used to bring data in to your computer which was specified at the time of recovery. You can set the Restore Point and can Recover the System. Back up is used to save the data of your System safe which will not be deleted at the time of System Crash. You can get back the data with these Techniques.

    Dear friend,

Backup is another safe storage of your Windows which you can use during the damage of your Windows.

Suppose there is any Windows error in your PC or any file is missing, then you can use Backup.

You can also use Backup just after formatting your PC.

However, Recovery is the process which initiates when you use your Backup for recovering your files.
