    Your issue seems related to System Registry and you can resolve it. Follow the procedure to overcome the issue:

    -> Open run dialogue box
    -> Type cd \windows under Command Prompt
    -> Now, type regedit and expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    -> Now, search the folder .exe
    -> Right click on it, and Modify it
    -> Now, change value data to exe file and search folder of exefile under the same HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    -> Right click on it and modify it by changing value to "%1" %*
    -> At last, expand your exe file and then shell(expand it) then open it and click on command folder
    -> Right click on it and modify it by changing value to "%1" %*
    -> Close your Regedit and restart your system, now you will be able to access .exe files without prompting any option to open it by different programs

    sometime , user are facing similar problems.
    Your system unable to open the exe. files mainly due to two problems :
    --> your system interfacing with virus
    --> changing the configuration setting.

    download and install the antivirus software and scan and delete the virus from your computer and try to open the exe. file

    Fix the error of unable to open the exe.files

    --> Open the site www.winhelponline.com
    --> download compressed file which helps in exe extension
    --> extract the contents
    --> double click on exefix_vista.reg
    --> click on Yes and then ok.

    now try to open the exe. file.If still it is not opened then try the next method given below

    --> Go to "start" and then "control panel"
    --> select "Folder option" in view menu and then select the tab "File Types"
    --> click on "New".
    --> new extension box will opened.Type the EXE in that box and then click on "Ok"
    --> now click on "Restore" to restore the exe files.

    now try to open the exe. file.
    I hope your problem will solved in either method given as above.
