hi dear friend, ........first check whether the USB drivers working properly or not

for that click start menu and open the RUN

then type in the run box as dxdiag and press ENTER key

    then choose the INPUT tab

after that check the NOTES box if ....there is a problem in the Drivers it will displays ....other wise it will show like this no problems found

And if there is a problem with the Drivers ....simply Re-install the USB drivers

Other wise...there is a problem in the connected Device

    IF THE PROBLEM IS DRIVERS FOLLOW THESE;

simply click start menu and right click on my computer Icon

and choose properties option after that choose Hardware tab

and click on Device manager button ......from that window Uninstall the USB drivers and reboot your pc

Re: What to do if Windows XP not able to recognize USB mass storage device?

    Hi,

The reason behind not recognizing USB mass storage device can be many.

First check the USB device somewhere else if it is okay or not.

If found okay, Check the port of installed USB device(computer end).

Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > click on it and you will be offered a host of devices attached, click on UniversalSerialBusController and check if any exclamation mark is put on beside any device. Click that device and you will find option to Uninstall/ Update /Deactivate the driver and first uninstall then reinstall from the option.

Clean the whole system Exhaustively by a good antivirus and remove any virus present in the system.

    Thanks.

1.Firstly check there is any problem in the USB drive or any problem in the USB port.

If there is no problem in both the cases do as i say..........

Try to troubleshoot your compute. So you may fix your problem.

    Or try this.

2.Later go to the 'My Computer' and make a right click on it.

    3.Then you click on 'Manage'.

4.There you go to the 'device manager'.

5.Now make a click on the '+' symbol near the 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers'.

6.Then you make a right click on any one of those 'USB Root Hub' and click on 'properties'.
