I am getting two OS options for Windows XP in the boot loader. I want to remove the duplicate enry from the list. Please tell me the procedure to remove one entry from the OS list?

Fire up a terminal, and enter the following command to install StartUp-Manager.
sudo apt-get install startupmanagerEnter your password, hit ‘Y’ at the prompt, and let it install.
Once that’s finished, go to System > Administration > StartUp-Manager
you'll find the option of changing the default os in startup manager. you'll find startup manager in SYSTEM->ADMINISTRATION
1.Start->control panel->click on system icon
2.Select advanced system link
3.Close the system window
4.In the advanced tab select settings button under startup and recovery
5.Under system startup select the operating system
6.click Ok
Using the "EasyBCD" Program
1. If you have not already, download and install a free version of the EasyBCD program, then run it.
NOTE: The free version download is at the bottom under "Download free for limited, non-commercial use". Registration is not required to download.
2. Click on the Edit Boot Menu button, then check the box for the OS that you want to be the default OS to start in the Windows Boot Manager. (see screenshot below)3. When finished, close EasyBCD.

To change the default OS of your system just follow these steps.
1)START->run
2)type msconfig and then enter
now a box will appear,in this box under the boot tab
3)select the OS you want to make default
and then set as default
and restart your system.

1. From the Start screen, start typing msconfig and press Enter when finished.You could also press Windows+R to open the Run dialog, type msconfig, and click on OK.
2. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
3. In the Boot tab, select (highlight) a listed OS that you want to be the new default OS to run at startup automatically, click on the Set as default button, and click on OK. The current default OS will have Default OS to the right of the listed OS.
4. When ready, click on the Restart button to apply.This will restart the computer immediately. Be sure to save and close anything open that you do not want to lose first.

If you want to continue from a single OS and want to remove the other, then have to follow some of the few steps:
1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Open the RUN
3. type the msconfig
4. Promote UAC and click on Yes
5. Click on the boot tab
6. Select the OS from the list that you want to be the new Default OS to run automatically
7. Click on the restart button to apply and then save
Right now I know two ways to do this type of task,

Second method is,
1) Click start -> run -> msconfig
or directly right msconfig.exe after clicking start
2) click on "Boot". If there are two or more windows already installed. Click one of them and select "set as default" option and click apply then "ok"

You can easily get a list of operating systems (running or not running) on your computer system by following the steps below :
* go to RUN [by press and hold Windows logo key and hit R on the key board i.e. WINDOWS + R]
* type "MSCONFIG" without quotes into the the RUN and hit OK
This will open SYSTEM CONFIGURATION.
* switch to BOOT tab in the window.
* here you can see all the operating systems in a list. You can remove any of them by clicking REMOVE on your choice.

Changing default operating system in windows was very easy!
Follow these steps to change the default operating system,
1:First of all go to control panel
2:Go to system properties
3:After that, go to advanced tab for options
4:Then you will find a option called settings under the start up and recovery
