What should I do if having Device Manager blank on Windows XP?

As per suggestion of Microsoft officials, i tried to check plug and play and set them all automatic but the process not working. Now, what should be the next step to recover this issue? Need really helpful suggestions!!

If the previous steps or solutions not resolving your issues then at last you should take another step for registry edit option. Providing you stepwise procedure below, are:

-> Click on Start button and open Run Command windows
-> Type regedt32 and hit Enter
-> Now, maximize the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE window
-> Then scroll down for the option SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum
-> Now, click the Security and then Permissions menu
-> Select an option Add and now add the group 'Everyone' and the user 'System'
-> Choose Everyone and check the option Read ONLY!
-> Now, check Full control under System
-> Select Advanced button situated at the bottom of window
-> Check the option Reset permissions on all child objects
-> Now, click on ok. and then Yes
    -> At last, Close REGEDT32

Now, check the issue, it should be resolved now...

    Hi,

If you found nothing installed when checking Device Manager, but the system is running hail and hearty, it means problem.

As the registry editing part is mentioned and which should act fine and possibly solve the issue, yet i want to mention two things which you should try simultaniously.

First boot in Safe Mode and run the system and observe those drivers and files getting loaded and those not loaded, then exit.

    Reboot normally.

Scan the system exhaustively for presence of virus, that might create havoc.

    Thanks.
