What should I do if one of the hardware diagnostic fails in my PC? Will it be ok if I format and reinstall Windows Vista in my PC?

I have Windows Vista in my PC and recently when I ran the Diagnostic test it failed in the disk 0 cache test. Will it be ok if my format my hard disk and reinstall Windows Vista in my PC? Is it a problem with the OS or the hardware?

    Hi,

From what you have reported inyour letter, it seems you are much too worried about the failure of the test. First of all what is the performance of your PC? if its working fine then you dont need to do anything. In case the performance is not up to the mark then think about formatting and re-installation of the software.
The diagnostic test the hard disk of the system for its different functionality, and one of then is catching. The Windows allot a space in the hard disk for faster operation where it writes and stores data for quicker access than accessing RAM which take a little more time to act.
So when diagnostic shows disk 0 catch test failed, it means the space is unusable for the windows for its purpose due to physical or logical error.
So you decide what you will do but you can take any decision whatever suits you. Feel free.
    Good luck.

    Hiiiiii
Hardware failure diagnostic thus Cache Memory Failure,If the problem's in the hard drive's controller's cache chip, you could attempt to back-up the drive, then send it back to the manufacturer for repair. Hopefully the warranty is still good.Being hardware, you cannot ''fix it'', only replace the faulty chip.
these don't solved by changing OS as the problem is related.
    Thanks and regrads
