What is System Restore point? How to create a System Restore point manually in my Windows 7 PC and revert back whenever it is needed to that Restore point?

I know that Windows 7 creates the Restore points automatically, but in some case when some 3rd party application fails to work my whole system gets crashed and have to put my restore CD and restore back every time, Is there any possibility like to create the System Restore point and revert back to it?

STEP 3: Give your desired Restore point name, so that you can identify it whenever its needed to be restored back.
STEP 4: Wait till your system restore point is created and your restore point is ready to use when you need it.

Now if you feel that your PC is not working properly after the installation of a new 3rd party software or you changed some settings and you want to revert back then you can select the previous working restore point which you created manually by following the below steps,

If you are in a problem where the whole system is not getting booted then you can System Restore from there too, just press F8 at the time when the system boots from the start, you will get a new window with various option in the screen, select Safe Mode to boot your system. It will take some time to get booted, the initial screen which you get will ask for the option whether you want to boot in safe mode or to do a System Restore, select system restore and select your Restore point.

Note: System Restore in previous version of Windows is more or less the same, you can find the System Restore option from Control Panel.

A restore point is a saved "snapshot" of a computer's data at a specific time. Restore points are a component of the Windows System Restore utility. By creating a restore point, you can save the state of the operating system and your own data so that if future changes cause a problem, you can restore the system and your data to the way it was before the changes were made.

To create or choose a restore point in Windows :

1-First go to the Start menu, select Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. From the System Restore window you can select Restore my computer to an earlier time or Create a restore point.

2-If you choose the first option, you will be able to select a restore point that is already stored in your computer.

3-If you choose the second option, you will be asked to give the restore point a descriptive name to help you identify it, and the utility will back up all the data and save it with the restore point's name, and the time it was created.

    Hello,

When we are using our system.

Many a times it happens that the OS reaches critical pint.

After which there is a chance that the OS may crash and the data will be lost with it.

So to prevent that there is a feature which is known as the system restore point.

It is nothing but a snapshot of your previous successful error free windows.

So when you restore your computer to that point you get to the snapshot location.

Its just going back in time to your previous settings.

    -Regards

Re: What is System Restore point? How to create a System Restore point manually in my Windows 7 PC and revert back whenever it is needed to that Restore point?

    Dear,

System restore point is a method to store an image (backup) of current system configuration. This image can be used in future for restoring the system to that configuration. This point is specified by the time of backup. You can also provide it a name.

This may or may not work fully when the whole system crashes. Crashing of system can also be caused due to the hardware issues in which the system is not bootable at all.

Still you are advised to make a system restore point before carrying out any major changes or installation of any new program.

For creating a system restore point manually: Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > System protection > Create. Provide a name to the restore point in the box and click on ‘Create’.

For a crashed system, if you are unable to boot into Windows, then you can use Windows Safe Mode to get the access for system restore.

    Thanks!
