Re: What is System Restore point? How to create a System Restore point manually in my Windows 7 PC and revert back whenever it is needed to that Restore point?
System Restore point is a snapshot of your PC and it’s settings. This is useful if anything goes wrong and you want to roll back your system to a previous, working state. This will also reduces your time of doing a fresh installation or using Restore CD to recover your PC. Now to create a System Restore point manually in a Windows 7 PC follow the steps given,
STEP 1: Click Start-> type protection in the search and Click Create Restore point.
STEP 2: On the System Properties dialogue, click Create.
STEP 3: Give your desired Restore point name, so that you can identify it whenever its needed to be restored back.
STEP 4: Wait till your system restore point is created and your restore point is ready to use when you need it.
Now if you feel that your PC is not working properly after the installation of a new 3rd party software or you changed some settings and you want to revert back then you can select the previous working restore point which you created manually by following the below steps,
STEP 1: Click Start, type restore in the search and select System Restore.
STEP 2: Click Choose a different restore point and select your Restore point and Click Next.
STEP 3: Click Finish is the Confirm Restore point window, the system restore take some time so enjoy the break from your PC J
If you are in a problem where the whole system is not getting booted then you can System Restore from there too, just press F8 at the time when the system boots from the start, you will get a new window with various option in the screen, select Safe Mode to boot your system. It will take some time to get booted, the initial screen which you get will ask for the option whether you want to boot in safe mode or to do a System Restore, select system restore and select your Restore point.
Note: System Restore in previous version of Windows is more or less the same, you can find the System Restore option from Control Panel.
