Hi friends can anyone tell me what exactly is a virtual drive as I am playing a game in windows 7 and it always require a CD to run a friend suggested me to install a virtual disk drive in windows 7 ultimate to run the game all the time without using CD how can do it please help.

A virtual drive is running two windows at a same time like windows xp in one tab and windows 7 in other tab but the other window will occupy some of ram permanently
a virtual drive is a ( physical disk like hard drive, floppy disk )also know as a RAM drive is a file which is used to install a new operating system on the virtual disk without re partitioning the physical disk and rebooting the host machine.
To install virtual drive on windows 7
*right click on my computer>select manage>disk management>actions>create VHD
here create and attach virtual harddisk screen will appear where you have to
browse to the directory where you want to reside the disk and select the size
of the disk by choosing dynamic or fixed.
then finally click ok.
In disk management you will see the virtual drive listed as allocated space,to begin using,
here you need to right click on disk and select initialize disk and click on MBR (Master boot record)
and hit ok.
Virtual Drive in Windows : If you want to create virtual drive as manual then follow some steps are :
1) Firstly you have to click on start button then run .
2) After that you have to type cmd on your text field.
3) Then using proper command subst x : " C:\WINDOWS".

- Right Click on It
- Go to Manage
- Go to Disk Management
- Click on Action
- And Create “VHD”
- Click “OK”

For installing virtual disk on windows 7 you need to do some steps those are:
1.click on start button then go to run
2.type cmd on "run".
3.use currect command for that
4.shortcut key isctrl+R.
5.TypeREGEDIT then select starting value..

Follow these steps to install Virtual drive on Windows 7 Ultimate-
- Open Notepad from the Start menu.
- Type subst x: "C:\Windows". Save the Notepad document as c:\autoexec.bat.
- Hit Ctrl+R (or click Start >> Run) on your keyboard and type regedit then click OK.
- On the left pane of the Registry Editor, Click My Computer >> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> Software >> Microsoft >> Windows >> CurrentVersion >> Run.
- Now on the right click on the right pane and click New.
- Select String Value. Type in "Autoexec" and press Enter.
- Right click Autoexec and click Modify.
- Type in c:\autoexec.bat.
- Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
Your virtual drive is now permanent. And you are done!

For upgradation, there are some parameters to match, if they are all ok, there is no problem at all.
For a fresh installation, install it as the normal installation. It will start automatically when the virtual drive is mounted, or you may need to double click it. Choose the Advanced option, specify the partition in which it is sought to be installed, and then as per regular way.
After the installation completed, you will see a folder in your c drive named windows.old. You may just delete that
Windows 7 Virtual Hard Drive
1. Right click on My Computer 2. Select Manage 3. Select Disk Managment 4. Click on Action / Create VHD
5. Set the Location, Size and Type of Virtual Hard drive you want to create
6. This simple creates the file that will be used for your Virtual Hard Drive 7. To attach to that file, click on Action / Attach VHD, and Browse to the file you just created
8. To initialize the disk, right click on the appropriate Disk # and select Initialize Disk
9. Confirm the Disk # and select the style you want
10. From here you can format the drive as you would a regular hard drive 11. Right click on the Unallocated space and select New Simple Volume. Assign the size
12, Assign the Drive Letter, whether you want to format with NTFS, and the label
13. Now you will see the new Virtual Drive as a new drive letter
